None of us can afford to be dogmatic; we simply don't know some things!
Be that as it may, I'll bet the Lord has some surprises up His sleeve.

He likes Christ, but doesn't like what Christ changes his children into?
So he likes Christ and hates saints. Hmm
Sylvia,
I agree. :)
DD,
I think that quote was when Ghandi commented on how some Christians don't act very "christ like", he had travelled in S.Africa and lived in India during the occupation of the British, enough said eh?
Imitation Christians?
Matthew chapter 13?

Good thread!
I agree with most other comments on here. A saint is someone who is sanctified - called out/set apart.
On the question of Ghandi, I would ask a rhetorical question - do Christians believe that he was called by God to do what he did?
If the answer to this question is "no", then what are we to make of Cyrus in the Old Testament? Check out Isaiah 45:1-13.
In that sense, it might be said that Cyrus was a 'saint' BUT our understanding may be altered slightly by finding the mention of 'saints in Christ':
"To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi,"
"To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus."
Does that mean there can be saints who are not in Christ? Those who live a Christlike life even though they have never heard or don't believe the central message of the gospel maybe? Can they, like Abraham, have their faith credited to them as righteousness - and be declared friends of God?

Those who live a Christlike life even though they have never heard or don't believe the central message of the gospel maybe?
How's that done without faith?
Sad Emo,
I very valid question, James stated that Rahab (SP?) the prostitute was righteous because of her acts.
One can argue that, in his lifetime, Ghandi was far more "christian" then the vast majority of christians out there.
How will God view that?
Luckly for us lowly humans, its not our call !!
There is a reason that only God and Jesus will decide, because WE certainly are not qualified to do so !

You make some very good points, sister.
I like this thread and the tone displayed by the posters - even Deputy Dog's.

:What/Who are the Saints?
They're the ones who "go marching in", wherever "in" is.
Just make sure you "want to be in that 'number'", whatever "that number" is.
Hope that helps.
