    Shelby,

I view the OT and the NT as scriptures written by Man and as such, I take what is written within the context of my faith.

I do not read the OT that much, I certainly do NOT focus on it, I am a christian and I am subject to the New Covenant not the old one.

I view what was written in terms of spiritual things as being written by men who earnestly believed they were insipred by God to write God's word to the best of their ability.

When I read the NT I ask my Lord Jesus to guid me in understanding what I am reading, I ask his Holy SPirit to guid me to the truth, to guide me to the Woord (Jesus) in what I am reading.

Jesus is the word of God, he is my lord and saviour of the New Covenant, only by knowing Jesus may I know Our father in Heaven and only by knowing the Word may I know Jesus.

All of the OT and the Old covenant was fullfilled in Jesus and as such, it is no loner applicable to those, like me, that believe in Jesus as the Son of God, Our Lord.

So, how do I view the NT, the only sciptures I follow?

I view them as that which has lead me to my Lord BUT that which does NOT replace my Lord.

Why it is that you PREFER, indeed CHOOSE... to put your faith in the Bible as the "word [from] God" that "speaks" to you... instead of in the Holy Spirit, who is the Son of God and Holy One of Israel?

This is a false dilemma. Truth never contradicts Truth. The Bible is the inerrant word of God, authored by the Holy Spirit, for our salvation.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8-9)

Having said that, I consider the Bible to be only as inerrant as the ones who wrote it.

I'm a little bit shocked, Snow. Unless I misunderstand you.

I don't put my faith in the Bible.

    John 5:39

Jesus said: You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

I believe the Message the Bible contains to be inerrant.

However, there are some things in the Bible that just don't jive.

    'Nuff said.

Why did you add/change the word "[from]" when scripture is spoken of as "the word OF God". (A very JW trick to alter the meaning.)

Are you saying we should NOT put faith in the Bible.

About which Eph 6:17 says :

" . . . the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Also as Heb 4:13 says the "word of God is ALIVE and ACTIVE."

What would Jesus Christ, the Son of God, say about you view?

Please know that I did not propound the question to you. Thus, it was not me that you should have/were to respond(ed) to. The question was for YOU... for YOU to consider... with your response to be the One who asked it. Perhaps in private, through prayer. If you didn't, you should have gone to him and asked him if he had indeed directed the question to you... TESTED the "inspired expression." For it you had, your spirit would have bore witness that it WAS he who asked you... and you would have known to direct your response to him.

You did not do that, though... and it is VERY sad... because you don't BELIEVE he even asked you. You LACK... faith. Yet, you claim to have faith. I personally... and spiritually... cannot see how that is.

I heard what I heard. I "spoke" what I heard. To whom he told me to speak it ("Believers"). That you chose to answer means you believe yourself to have been addressed by the One asking. Yet, you directed your response to me.

Your responses run the gamut. Some believe the Bible to be the Word of God. Even though the Bible plainly states who that Word is. Some believe Christ is not the Holy Spirit. Even though the Bible plainly states who that Spirit is. Some believe the Bible contains the [New] Law. Even though the Bible plainly states that such Law would NOT be written in ink... but on hearts. No wonder the Christ is "divided"... and non-believers scofff at us.

I must leave you, then, to your beliefs. You are not my sheep... and I am only a servant. You would have had your ears opened, had you only asked for it... and listened. Instead, you chose to trust in your OWN understanding. But not one of you asked. Not one. I don't know what to say. Truly.

I bid you peace... and perhaps just a little more humility... a little more consideration that perhaps you HAVE been misled... in that you still don't believe that God's Word... CHRIST... IS ALIVE... TRULY... that he LIVES... and SPEAKS... but that an inanimate object... a mere book... speaks FOR him. In light of the following, I just don't understand how you can believe that is TRUE... still:

“But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith [JHVH], I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Jeremiah 31:33

“And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them].” Ezekiel 36:27

    And…

“THIS [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them…” Hebrews 10:16

    And…

“For THIS [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.” Hebrews 8:10, 11

    So, that:

“A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.” Romans 2:28, 29

Sadly, SA, who awaits responses to your individual responses from the One to whom they should have been directed, if he so chooses to respond...

Without placing faith in the Bible there are no words "Holy Spirit". You must first accept the Bible to some degree in order to have the Christian concept of the Holy Spirit - it does not exist without being described by the Bible.

Without the Bible, there is no context for the question.

If I don't believe in the Bible, where will I have known the "Holy Spirit" from?

    May you have peace!

where will I have known the "Holy Spirit" from?

From the same One who made it known to those who saw it and/or received it... BEFORE the NT books of the Bible were written. The One who IS that Spirit. John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 2 Corinthians 3:17

It is the same today. Hebrews 13:8

    I bid you peace!

I think, what he is asking is, how can you live in the imaginary world taken from a book that you don't believe much of? Cherry pick what you like?

    Hello SA,

    It is the same today

I might be worth noting that the Holy Spirit is a person, not a thing.

    See here for example.

    John 14:17 (New International Version)

17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

What version are you reading BTW?

    Blessings,

    Stephen
