Its a fact in history that the cultures that were the most violent against their cultures survived and prospered the longest.

Always using the power of their selective god to conquer and relinquish. Which brings up the situation in the middle east.

The WTS now are using the powerful and violent god Jehovah to sustain themselves and so far has worked pretty good for them.

Might be the reason why most atheists are also humanists.

Most christians that I know, don't "subscribe" to the "genocidal God" either.

We tend to follow that "what would Jesus do" POV.

Me too, sac, only I assign no holiness to it. Decency can be reflected in life and principle without any godliness - a fact often overlooked I fear.

A book I am reading suggests that Jesus was actually a Zen master. Now, that's a Jesus I can relate to.

    Jeff,

In the Taoist thread Imentioned a view that believed that Jesus wandered the East in h is 20's and was influenced by Taoisim and Buddhisim.

Of course one can argue that truth is truth regardless of label...

I think that decency without desire for recompense is the sgin of someone that has the HS in them, even if they don't believe in it.

    It's true.

Jehovah is one blood thirsty son-of-a-bitch!

And if Jesus is in on it - he also is a blood thirsty son-of-a-bitch!

    Thank goodness they aren't real.

I must say though, I do like this whole Christmas thing.

Despite the fact that the origins of the celebration of Christmas can be linked to the alleged birth of Jesus and to the biblical account of his life - it is still a a time of peace and of giving and should not be judged adversely because it can be traced to the bible.
