I think if the scientist can come up with some really good mathematical models that can make some accurate predictions then and only then will you get more backing and cooperation. Human nature being what it is I think that those mostly effected will be the ones doing the most I don't expect Greenlanders to be first on the list since they are the ones to benefit the most, they will probably close their boarders and expect real estate prices will go up.

It's not that I disagree with any of your points frankie it's just that I find willful ignorance so revolting and, as some on this site have proven, even with plenty of time on their hands they are not well informed. Then I digress into issues such as why people don't have the time to be better informed, assuming they even care too. This type of Society makes people work twice as long as they really need to and as such they are unfit to be discerning citizens.
As for the situation having to get worse before something is attempted to be done about it, I agree. However some idiots, probably deniers at present, but in the future following the masses once they've changed their minds, might suggest some absurd technological zippy whammo solution that is either unworkable, super expensive and/or worse than the problem that it's trying to solve.
Yes, evolution, nature herself, has the last word. I would rather give it a guiding hand for fear that surviving humanity will evolve into a monstrosity.

Let's suppose that governmental authorities and special interest power-hungry-money-grubbers and I'll-say-anything-you-want-just-keep-the-money-coming researchers are all on the up and up and have nothing but the planet's health and prosperity at heart. What is it, exactly, that you want to take place? What are the policies that you advocate? What authority to you want to hand the reins of power to to solve the dilemma?

Journey-on, as I have stated in the past I have NO faith or confidence in this civilization. Every aspect of its existence, from architecture to governance repugns me. I do not want to reform it, I want nothing but its demise.
In its place I would put a million Arcosantis, self reliant ecologically sound villages of 500 people more or less. Everything you need will be within a five minute walk of your home. All the businesses, up to light industry, will be owned and managed by the employees who would also be the residents of the communities.
The communities, will have four square kilometers of land, with plenty of room to grow an abundance of crops using Permaculture techniques. That will leave, here in the US over half the land available as pure wilderness.
There will be roads to connect these self reliant eco-villages but the vehicles that use them will be dramatically different. Rugged, four wheel electric bicycles fully enclosed holding 2-4 persons and a speed of 25mph will be sufficient for personal transportation. Stretch vans holding 15 or so people, also electric, will serve as mass transportation.
Politics will be Anarcho-Communitarian with a lack or minimum of hierarchy.
Yes, all of this is "Utopian" and some would claim it is "against human nature". Human nature can be changed though. Not through indoctrination or any form of psychological voodoo but by going into the depths of such nature, our genes that code for Dominance/Submissive behavior and stripping them from our genetic code. The result would be a race of humans that can neither stand to be dominated yet have no desire to dominate. Altruism would be genetically enhanced. A masterless/slaveless race that interacts with each other as true equals.
Wether its possible to arrange for all that I do not know, but governments have been overthrown by people in order to improver their lives. I think though that this civilization would have to collapse before one can even try.

Sounds a like Hitlers super race. But the problem with that is no telling where it would lead it sounds kind of like a race with no sex drive and no ambition and no feelings.

Frankie, I was waiting for that one. Actually it is the opposite of Hitlers Master Race. And by the way, though I don't know German, MASTER is the appropriate word since he made no bones about dominating the world. Super, the word you used is vague enough so that it doesn't have to imply a dominance/submissive situation. More to the point, what I have just described as masterless/slaveless race that neither conquers nor tolerates conquest would eventually get involved in a war with Hitler without making any worthless peace treaties like that imbecile Neville Chamberlain.
As far as sex drive, ambitions and supposedly no feelings, Dominance/Submission may affect the first two but it is not crucial for their existence.
Concerning sex, you will probably have the disappearance of the S/M culture but sexual relationships in general may become a feminists dream with men being more considerate in bed.
Concerning ambition, you will probably have no drive for it if it concerns the type of ambition that drives one to the top of any hierarchy which is exactly the desired result. That does not mean that there will be a lack of ambition projected towards the inanimate world. If you have the ambition to go to Mars for instance you will simply try to communicate with like minded people and figure out a way of doing it even if it takes 50 years. That hyperbole notwithstanding, more down to earth projects can be tackled. As Anarchists say, "Power over things not people".
As far as no feelings is concerned assuming that your psyche will be a total vacuum is quite frankly ridiculous. You will have feelings just not the feeling of the tyranical boss and his butt sniffers.

Can you imagine this! Please tell me you're jesting. You actually think stripping the genes that code for Dominance/Submission behaviors will create this "utopian" society you speak of! You actually think that such a manipulation will only affect that one layer of psychological behaviors toward that one specific social endeavor. How naive you are! You're probably all for forced abortions and limiting couples to one child, too.
Why not just create thousands of arcosanti projects where like minded people can come together and work toward specific goals and let natural evolution (survival of the fittest) deal with everybody else?
