For example, if you were stopped for suspiscion of driving under the influence, should the police be allowed to search through your cell phone?

Why not, if you have nothing to hide you shouldn't be worried.

    No

...if you were stopped for suspiscion of driving under the influence, should the police be allowed to search through your cell phone?

My knee jerk reaction is again "no", but I guess it depends on the circumstances. If the person is already under arrest for DWI, then they don't need a warrant. If they've just pulled someone over and don't have enough to arrest and just ask to search, whether vehicle, person or cellphone, then the answer is again, "no".

It's not about hiding something. It's a question of law and what next?

When your ass is sitting in jail on trumped up charges, don't look for sympathy from those who tried to protect your liberties previously but failed because too many people were too lazy to care or stand up for their rights...

There's a case of a guy who bought a number of phones, the clerk grew suspicious, called the police and the guy was arrested for using a phony name and other things. The cop checked his IPhone out (I believe) and looked at all of his personal info. The guy said the cop couldn't just do that without a warrant and now it's before the courts.

A man was arrested in another case. The cops saw the X rated pics he had of his ex and him in very sexual positions. These cops announced to their fellow cops to check it out. The judge said it was not right that they did this but they really didn't violate a law.
