What video are you talking about? "The Organization Behind the Name?" or some other one?

By the way, I don't think the GB is completely isolated from the Writing Committee. I just think the GB member in charge of Writing is pretty much the only guy on the GB with significant influence there. Just as the GB member in charge of the Service Committee is pretty much the only guy from the GB with significant influence there. Barber isn't in charge of any Committees so he's basically powerless.

Don't forget, the corporate presidents and VPs and lawyers run the show. The GB have been reduced to puppets.

Well there's that, plus he's dead, so yeah, his influence is rather nil...

    Sorry couldn't resist.

Back to topic, I don't understand the hostility on this thread. The topic originator is either mentally ill or in direct contact with the most high sovereign of the universe. Either way it doesn't affect me, nor 99.999% of the world's population. If it is mental illness it seems rather benign.

I have read this whole thread about 4 times now, and I don't understand anything about this thread at all.

When did Barber die? Didn't he give the Gilead graduation "overlapping generations" speech just last fall?

I just see more guestioning than hostility.

Both AGuest & OTWO seem like great people. OTWO is actually a good man. From what I seen in my short time here is that he gives very solid down to earth counsel & advise. I get the impression that he also has helped many people. AGuest took me some getting use to, but when I read some of her other posts to get an overall view of her I liked her. She is very spiritual and heavy on the gas pedal.(I hope she is still praying for me, because I probably need it- )

He died in 2005 or 2006 I think.

You're probably thinking of Barr, who is now about 97 or 98 and likely the next to go.

Palmtree is still digesting this.....I hope you don't mind some respectful questions, Shelby. Later, when I've collected my thoughts and feelings.

    Have a good day!

But right then I could see into in Mr. Barber's eyes... and I saw fear. Fear, not only because he thought I WAS anointed... but because he was NOT... and he knew... at the same time that I did... that I KNEW he was not! He... was afraid... of ME! I could SEE it. I could FEEL it. I could smell it. There was NO mistaking it.

And Mr. Barber replied... and I kid you NOT... "The Governing Body doesn't write the Watchtower! The Governing Body doesn't approve the Watchtower! The Governing Body hasn't had ANYTHING to DO with the WT since 1972!"

    ....

He hung his head down and said, "We haven't had anything to do with the WT since 1972 when we turned it over to the Joshua Class in anticipation of 1975. Everything was turned over to six committees. The WT is handled by the Writing Committee and has been ever since."

Make that all #5 on my list. How many believe this conversation actually took place, including the admission of "in anticipation of 1975" ?

This stuff is OVER THE TOP. AGuest is clearly exaggerating to keep this going. In most circles, that would be called a troll. Which ones did Trevor plant here so many years ago in case he needed new secret identities?

Have fun with this one, don't take her so seriously. I was right the first time when I said "Your thoughts here are intentionally so whacked out that we should be able to see the ridiculousness of the religion through the ridiculousness of what you say happened." I only tweak that comment to say that is not necessarily her goal. Her goal is to just waste our time on this nonsense. I offered sound advice about the voices. I may participate in conversations ABOUT AGuest, but I am done trying to help her or be super-duper sensitive around her. Good day.

OTWO -- The sister is simply sharing a story and bearing witness to the Truth as she knows it. She is not seeking validation from anyone. Your call for a vote is self-serving and is to validate your own disbelief. I might add, your own disbelief is furiously trying to assert itself in the face of a small, secret part of you inside that is resonating with what she posts.
