ROFL @MidwichCuckoo...still trying to catch my breath.
I experimented with several all natural shampoos and it seems like they all stripped the protein from my hair and made my hair dry and hard. Sometimes, I'll just rinse my hair with conditioner instead actually shampooing it, especially after a sweaty workout.

I have naturally curly hair and there is a book that talks all about 'no poo' routines....shampoo has harsh detergents (sulfates) that are completely unnecessary to cleanse hair. Actually, the book recommends washing your scalp and rinsing hair with conditioner only (silicone free of course). It also recommends natural 'shampoos' for those that are interested. THAT really makes my hair amazingly shiney, soft, dandruff free, and keeps it moisturized! Matter-a-fact, my hairdresser rarely finds split ends anymore either...all cause I'm not stripping my hair any longer. Been following this routine for YEARS.
Book is called: Curly Girl - The Handbook by Lorraine Massey http://www.amazon.com/Curly-Girl-Lorraine-Massey/dp/0761123008

Finally-Free
Now that you've reminded me, I'm overdue for my annual colonoscopy. It's always a pain in the ass because I have an argument with them every time. They tried to refuse to do it to me a couple of times because I live alone and don't have someone who can stay with me for 24 hours afterwards. Once I had to threaten with a lawsuit on the basis that I was being denied equal access to health care. Now, to avoid the argument I just tell them Rocco is here to look after me. I don't tell them he's a bird.

Isn't it odd that someone called poopsiecakes replies on a poo thread?

I'm very intrigued by Babygirl's post - I have naturally curly hair too and I tend to chemical the crap out of it...
