    > Members of the Christian congregation thus experience a tranquillity unknown to others.

Keep in mind that one is only a "member" so long as you maintain the "tranquility". As soon as you start to hold views different from the "congregation" you are no longer a "member".

Therefore, one does not have tranquility due to being a member... one is a member because of the tranquility.

Gotta love how the WTS lies and deceives.

Another way to think of it... I drive a MINI Cooper. Imagine if you heard an adertisement that said:

"Happy drivers drive a MINI. If you are not a happy driver, then your MINI will be taken away... that way no one can say MINI drivers are unhappy."

This article is so agenda-driven...... they're losing control of the flock, they've become so strident and overbearing that people are simply tuning them out

Telling people not to swim in the deep water--if that isn't an indication that they want to keep you as dependent children, I don't know what is. Perhaps the Kingdom Hall is the antitypical "inner tube" that keeps you safe in the shallow waters of Jehovah's organization...

We might add that the Bible warned of those IN the congregation who were like sharks, though it didn't use that exact terminology--more like rocks hidden underwater. It isn't safe to encourage being naive amongst people you mostly don't know, yet might invite into your cars, your homes, to spend time with your children, and the like. Ah, never mind. Nobody's listenin'...

Sad to say, multitudes of witnesses who had hoped to find peace and fulfillment in marriage and with a family
have found that their expectations have gone unfulfilled , especially if they followed the Governing Body's advice not to marry or not to have a family "because the end is near."

Spiritually speaking, many Jehovah's Witnesses have been left bewildered and
disoriented, questioning the value of the guidance that they have received. That is especially
so in the light of the questionable conduct of their elders and unscriptural teachings of their
    Governing Body
. Hence, many people feel that they have little choice but to hope in
science or in the goodwill and good sense of fellow humans. It is not surprising, then,
that many of the brothers around us feel extremely insecure or that they simply prefer not to
think too deeply about "the truth".

Just thought I'd rework that passage a bit. Pretty much sums up my own experience.

After being a 'fader' for almost ten years and having recovered my 'senses' and know all the bullshit and scandals and certainly know better on a personal level with the dealings with people, why would I go back there - with my eyes OPEN no less??

Yeah, go back now so I can be targeted by even MORE users than ever before??? Especially now that the economy is in the toilet??? "Sister So-and-So, how are your finances, are you able to get by?" If you answer YES, the next question will be: "we are taking up a collection for So-and-So - can you contribute...." etc., etc. I don't think so.

I may be going to the memorial, but believe me, I will be fast heading for the door afterwards.

    Excellent use of BOLDING.

Maybe I'll highlight my WT just like that and attend that day.

I doubt that even a nosy JW relative would see any significance though.

    Thanks for sharing this.

"Jacob’s daughter Dinah was an example
of one who got into serious trouble because
    of associating with worldly companions.
The Genesis account about her tells us
that she was in the habit of associating with
the young Canaanite women in the area
where her family dwelled. The Canaanites
did not have the same high moral standards
    as Jehovah’s worshippers."

Oh? Like her brothers who committed wholesale murder? Is that an example of the "high moral standards of Jehovah's worshippers"?

They're using "Jaws" to scare JWs into staying tight in the fold.... Amazing.... They should actually WATCH some of those oceanographic-themed nature shows; the fish that stick together in tight little balls are easier to eat...
