American Heart Association shows only 23.1% of men smoke. I am surprised by that also.

Just a note. My husband was a smoker when we met (9 years ago). He quit two weeks later. I would like to think I have some great power that I inspired him to quit, but I don't. Now, he is of the most intolerant of smoke in the air, worse than me. He is not a drinker either.

    WD,

I know you are finished with school now .......but you can always take 'lifestyle' classes like French cooking or gardening!

At least you know the men there have some interest in expanding their horizons!

But do they have any interest in women?

Well, maybe if you meet a nice, quality guy who smokes, you can help him quit. It's tough out there. Sometimes you have to work with what you got, that's what I'm learning.

    Keyer......(LOL)

Seriously...... there are some single straight men who treat those courses like high school home-ec!

The last one I took for spring menus.......was filled with Firefighter/paramedics grads.....all straight and all way more fresh than the veggies!

It isn't the smoking that makes a person disgusting. It is their thinking about the smoking.

An honest smoker you will not find.

They have to distort, rationalize and otherwise warp their rap about its effect on them and others.

They are defensive, addicted, surly, argumentative and rude.

If they weren't--they wouldn't be smokers.

Drinkers who drink to excess are depressed, trubulent, self-destructive losers without a sense of self.

My mom and dad were smokers and drinkers.

How I survived either of them I don't know.

Thanks Yknot and Terry and Keyser and others who "get" what I mean. I'm on asthma and allergy desensitizing treatment and don't need to harm myself by getting involved with smokers who care more about their habit than me.

I have a dog that I walk often, so I am "out there." I'm not in the house all the time. I'm very interested in health and exercise and have a nice figure and dress nicely. That is why I couldn't understand ASO's hostility and insults.

It's crazy the way he talks to women. I just don't understand it.

I don't think he realizes how insenstive his comments were coming across...... I really think he was trying to be helpful

Laugh off the rest........My husband can be like that sometimes, and I promise you they really don't discern their tone or delivery.

Here next time he upsets you post this pick, like most (all) men he is very visual and it will distract him ...... like glitter distracts 10yrs old girls!

Look at dating as more of social game than trying to find 'mr right'...... I mean what other adult game can you think of that requires a man to buy you a drink and than later take you to dinner and an event (movie, sports game, activity, artsy thing).

Granted I haven't dated in 15yrs.....but to keep my hubby on his toes I occassionally remind him how much other men find me attractive!!! (okay it might be a little pay back too....but he deserves it.....not like I am telling him to get on all fours and lick my boots-)

I don't smoke, and have never had a drink, but my wife still thinks I suck! How is that fair?? Nah, she thinks I'm okay.

But I always felt that way about myself--yes, sd-7 it's all about YOU isn't it?--that, hey, I don't smoke, drink, or even curse! How come women aren't interested in me?

Well, I'm sure there are men out there who are capable of that--it's all a matter of looking in the right places. As I always say, finding a needle in a haystack is easy as long as you know what kind of needle you're looking for.
