PSacramento, the only problem with it being the generation of A.D. 70 because the fulfillment of Matthew 24:29-31 did not take place.
Symbolisim dude, just that.
Or Jesus was wrong or he meant something different than what was understood.
Of course the fall of Jerusalem is the "easiest" way to look at this prophecy, IF it was indeed intented to be one.
That doesn't mean it is the correct view, just A view.
We are assuming that Matthew 24:29-31 is a DIRECT continuation and that may not be the case.
We are just speculating one way or another.
What we do KNOW is that, the generation that Jesus spoke about, "THIS GENERATION" did indeed go through a huge event and that event was the destruction of Jerusalem.
Added to that we can also inculde the persecuation of the early christians.
