Beks, I'm under the impression that the only right decision in your eyes would have been to let the Democrats count ballots until Al Gore won. The Democratic machine did the same thing here with the Governor's vote in 2004. Apparently on the third recount the King County Elections office discovered a bunch of uncounted Chris Gregoire votes stuck in storage. (No I'm not making this up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_gubernatorial_election,_2004)

If it is any consolation, that outcome gave me a personal glimpse of how pissed off you guys must have been after Florida.

Well that's just partisan foolishness Jeff. I specifically said

I'm not actually talking about the outcome of this case, or other aspects of law that might have effected it. I'm focusing on the behavior of the Supreme Court.

Are you actually interested in truth, or are you just a partisan ideologue?

My counselor at rehab told me I'm almost pathologically intellectual. Maybe I need a twelve step program for political junkies.

JeffT, I think that's called Congress. Run for office and indulge yourself. If being in the middle of the sausage factory, so to speak, doesn't cure you, nothing will.

Oh how oh how did I miss this awesome thread?

I am still on page one here.

Syl, I will say that Thomas is an awesome judge. I don't believe the filth they threw on him for one second. A bunch of women that worked for him came out and said that all that Anita Hill nonsense was totally out of character for the Clarence they knew. In my personal experience, men who introduce themselves to female coworkers as "Long Dong Silver" tend to have that problem with many women.

I don't know if he is the best one on the court, but definitely top two or three. And it's really arguable any way you stack it.

And let's face it, imagine having him glower down on you over his gavel? That should scare anyone straight! More than the rest of the judges, at any rate. He reminds me of the principal of my elementary school. And let me add, back then, they had paddles hanging in he principals office.

OK. Now moving on, to JD.

Don't know. Not really concerned about it. So, here's some entertainment for you Sylvia.

This beats stealin' chicken out the rich folks yard ANYDAY.

Very impressive! I didn't know that Thomas had drafted his own opinion.

I never bothered with the SCOTUS position. Bush won Florida, which is the fact of the matter. The subsequent verification rendered the SCOTUS ruling moot.

But thanks on that bit of history.

Frankly, I thought it was disgusting to see Teddy's inquisition of Clarence. I wonder what May Jo thinks about it.
