oh! and then when i was in university, my dub housemate told the elders about my lady friends coming over "to study" on friday nights. now THAT was a shitshow: they asked me if i would bring my lady friends in through the back door or front door of the house. they wanted to know what time they visited me and they wanted to know what academic subjects we were studying.

The elders felt that my obvious perfection would eventually go to my head, so they tried to keep me humble by counseling me for many silly things. Not wanting them to feel discouraged, I pretended to be contrite. Still, it's hard to keep a lid on such awesomeness for very long, and I'd soon be counseled again.

You can tell the age of a lot of male posters...when we say we were counseled about our hair being too long.
As I was fading, the boys/young men were getting counseled for cutting their too short. No buzz cuts, no shaved heads. It was too worldly. I remember laughing when a kid told me he got fussed at for his too short hair. I told him that my age group got fussed at for having long hair. He didn't feel so bad then.
But as we know, it's not about the hair...it's about the control.

Handing out my wedding invitations at the Kingdom Hall. Elder put a stop to it quick ... "You can't conduct business in God's house!" Okay, so I went out to the parking lot ... "No! You can't do that here either! The parking lot is still part of God's house! You need to mail those!" A few days later, at the book counter ... someone left a bunch of pens with their business advertised on them. Nice!
