Terry said, "Jehovah's Witnesses under Russell and JW's under Rutherford..."

Actually, there were NO "Jehovah's Witnesses" under Russell. The name "Jehovah's Witnesses" was coined by J. F. Rutherford more than a decade after Russell had died. But we know what you mean; some of Russell's "Bible Students" stuck with JFR and became JWs. Many did not. Families were split over the issue. One example is the family of W.E. vanAmburgh, who was secretary/treasurer of the WTB&TS. His brother and his brother's family remained Bible Students and at least some of their children are Bible Students today.

Another point - if JFR really knew and followed his Bible, he would have named his followers "Hepzibah." I'll let each of you figure out why for a day or two.

Fortunately for me, I have an advantage that many here do not: upon completion of my ordination as a SUB-GENIUS, I was granted the ability to pull the wool over MY OWN eyes. Join me! Salvation is only $35 away!

Questioning what we are taught is a great big step, huge really, in all regards.

Of course to do that we must also be aware that there are very few absolutes and, unless we are equipped with infinite knowledge, that even when we decided for A over B that we may still be wrong.

Actually, the name was adopted July 26, 1931 by resolution in Columbus, Ohio.

I find this detail rather interesting because it is democratically wrought! A staggering departure from the usual Top-Down mandates of today's Governing Body.

This would be a decidedly different religion if ALL IMPORTANT DOCTRINAL ISSUES were voted on by resolution.

    Don't you think?

Interesting post. I answered "absolutely false" to the final questions. that makes me a hard-core atheist, I guess.

I spend a few minutes each day questioning my "absolutes" and trying to discover their origins.

I think our mind is like a vacuum cleaner bag. You have to change it when it gets full of crap.

(Those rubber bands and bobby pins really screw things up!)

Hidden cues have replaced the ordinary path of logical analysis when examining your world.
How do you think you did on our test? We are looking for your REACTIONS internal upheavals, hesitations, conflicts or automatic ease in answering. We are trying to detect a SYMPTOM of programming, implanted detour or indoctrination.

I think Terry is trying to control my mind.

    MIND-CONTROL is a METAPHOR.

    Minds aren't controlled.

    Minds create models for reality.

They interpret reality through the models.

    Models are shared and borrowed.

    Some models are more restrictive.
