Moshe,
I read that the unemployment rate for devout church goers is, GASP, the same as the unchurched, which is anecdotal evidence that God doesn't give a hoot about whether you have a job or not.
How do you know who is a wheat and who is a weed? Wouldn't you have know that to draw a conclusion? Personally, I have had to sell my house, and have lost money for each of the last three years. Yet, my children are fed. I make it to church in my nice car. I live in a much more convenient and energy efficient rental home. I have time for prayer and study. Somehow, even though there is too much month at the end of my paychecks, somehow we are surviving. We are even closer to God now.
Remember the miracle of the bread and the fish that fed the five thousand? That's how God works, the math doesn't add up; yet still - GOD. He controls all the math.
There is no repeatable prayer formula to make sure the the prayer you prayed for healing works for the person sitting in the pew in front of you. What gives with that?
True, but there is a formula outlined in contract form that guarantees unending healthy life. Sickness and death is our part of that contract for now. (Heb. 9:27)
I am not the least bit jealous of of anyone who claims to have undeserved grace and that special saved feeling inside.
Well, I wish you were a bit more jealous Moshe. It was one of the things that prompted me to look to Jesus to save me from my misery. He delivered as promised in due time.
They say Jesus has already forgiven your transgression, because he paid the price for you sin. Jews don't believe that man was born with that sort of sin, so man has no need for a personal redeemer. The Torah's garden of Eden story, is their story, so a person should give some weight to their interpretation.
Why is everyone so over-occupied with the Garden of Eden? Jews weren't trying to get rid of Adam's sin when they placed their hands on the head of a bull or goat in order to transfer their personal sin onto the animal and then slit its throat. It was their sin being destroyed, and every Jew knew it.
Likewise, without Jesus it is you and your sin(s) that will be on trial on Judgment Day .... not Adams.
Should not the Designer be the one to Judge. If not him, then who?
JWoods
You would not have to if you were God.
Au contrair. The more so. For, if God refuses to judge evil then that in fact makes him evil for having the ability but refusing to exercise it.
While God MUST be judge by virtue of his nature, HE IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE SAVIOR. This was an act of pure nobility and LOVE. The greater the Love, the greater the desire to Save at a corresponding cost. Since God's love is infinite, it makes sense that his desire to save would be quite high as well.
Both God's Justice and Love are in play in his dealings with man.
