Hey I speak Portuguese but can't recite their ABC's...

every letter is pronounced way dif....

I learned words I wasn't interested in starting with ABC's thought I'd get to it....neverdid. When I need to spell to a Brazilian friend I'm screwed!!

Nah.... Spanish is a language (with many variations) Spanish describes a native of Spain.

I believe it is 'Hispanic or Latino' that is the hodgepodge word regarding 'race'.

The race is "White." The ETHNICITY... is "Hispanic." Thus, she is White-Hispanic (vs. Black-Hispanic), as far as the current definitions go. There is no official category of "Latino". That is merely how many of them often refer to themselves.

But really, dear ones, this wasn't about race at all, but about "national origin." Because "Spanish people"... come from Spain. People who SPEAK Spanish... come from all over the world. Including the good old U.S. of A.
