I've been trying to get the link for today's column on Freeminds but they are having problems with the page. I'll post it when it is up
Lady Lee- who are you, and what's YOUR story?

Lady Lee
The one thing I forgot in the column and haven't said here is that when elders hear of an accusation of sexual abuse the first thing they are supposed to do is call Bethel and find out if they live in a place where reporting the abuse is mandatory.
If it isn't mandatory they will not recommend the family they can go to the police.
If it is mandatory they will tell the family but they will also remind them that they should never do anything that will bring shame on Jehovah or his organization. So they don't go. And those who do go to the authorities are treated as if they have done something wrong.
There are cases where men have been accused and convicted of the sexual abuse. Elders and Witnsses will go into the courtroom to support and even testify for the accused. meanwhile the victim and family are shunned.
How much sicker can this get before people wake up?

AK - Jeff
Look - if the bastards hide murderers, they would have no problem hiding other criminals would they?

AK Jeff what I find funny in that letter is that they are really concerned about the fact that he may have smoked a joint, but those murders and other crimes- well that happened before baptism so that's not of any concern. They'll sit in the KH with a murderer, but a pot-smoker, no!

AK-Jeff i am not doubting you personally, but can i ask, how sure are we this letter is authentic? Seems to me, if it is real, something should have been done about it, although it'd probably be met with denial.

AK-Jeff - is there anyway to confirm that letter's validity?
