  Yeah, I def believe it's inappropriate to spank a child because they can't sit still for two hours. We spanked our daughter in an attempt to minimize "distracting actions" at the hall. I still feel guilty about that. But, again, we weren't thinking for ourselves back then. We were following example set for us.

  I'm against child beating in ANY form. When in society is it EVER ok to hit someone?

  Again, please define "beating" because some seem to think it means as little as a single pop on the rear. I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing.

  So a single pop to the rear constitutes a "beating" and "physical abuse"? That would mean I "beat" my wife occasionally when I walk into the kitchen and she's bent over getting something out of the fridge.

  I agree...Any form of contact to a child that causes them pain is abuse...

  Well Farkel,

  everybody have ther own way of disipline, I prefer a good spankin' on the rear as opposed to cigarette burns or rape

  I guess that's why my child came out all right because she was not exposed to the burns and rape.

  Some of these kids need their rear kicked. It might prevent them from breaking in your house when they reach teenage years.

  You know if your boss smacked you for bad work you'd be calling the police. At least you were both adults. An adult smacking a little kid lacks empathy and imagination when it comes to training a child.

  We taking bets on how heated this thread is gonna be? Every couple months this kind of thread appears, and it always fascinates me how heated it becomes.

  I guess why my FOUR children came out all right (one is a physician) was because of my not ever spanking any of my children.

  My claim is as silly as your claim, you know. It's known as a "False Cause" fallacy. Just because your and my children all came out all right is NOT necessarily due to whether we spanked them or not. Your statement that you whupped them and they turned out all right, does not mean the same thing as saying "they turned out all right BECAUSE I whupped them.

  I will tell you this, though: most of the child and spouse physical abusers were physically abused themselves and most of the children who were not physically abused themselves, do NOT physically abuse their own children. That is a fact, if the surveys on this matter are to be believed.
