Do we really understand justice from God's view unless we are God
There's some good ol' circular reasoning for you.
"God is always good" -> "If God does something bad, we must not understand his view." -> "Therefore, everything God does is always good."
Just LOOK at what he commands, and think for yourself:
"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity!Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told." (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)
"This is what the Lord has to say: 'I will punish what Amalek did to Israel when he barred his way as he was coming up from Egypt. Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses.'" (1 Samuel 15:2-3 NAB)
God is NOT good. He is bloodthirsty warlord!! It is painfully obvious. It doesn't matter what his viewpoint is, anymore than it matters what the "view" of any other phycopathic murderer is.

Doing WTS research I found this quote about the value of life. Just substitute 70,000 children.
*** w69 3/15 p. 191 Questions From Readers ***As a punishment for this sin Jehovah brought three days of pestilence that killed 70,000 Israelites. (2 Sam. 24:12-16) Was that unjust? Were 70,000 innocent people dying for the king’s error? The Bible plainly shows that we all are sinners deserving of death; it is only by God’s undeserved kindness that we live. (Rom. 3:23; 6:23; Lam. 3:22, 23) So those who died had no special "right" to life. Additionally, can any human today say for sure that those 70,000 were not guilty of some serious sin not mentioned in the historical record?

Maybe i'm wrong. How many dimensions are there for sure? Tell me what exists and what doesn't. Unless you know everything how can you judge? Only by what God has revealed to you. Has he revealed everything?
Bohm,
I'm not God and what God does to people like Hitler is up to him. If my family had suffered as some suffered and I was made God. Hitler would wish he was in hell.

The finger: Did jesus do any good deeds?
By your logic, we cant judge that eg. putting down his life so we could have eternal life was good because, hey, we cant judge! It might have been the most evil act of them all!
The only thing we can do is to think: "Oooh, jesus put down his life for us, lets see if it was good or bad (flips through bible) ... okay ... dying for our sins so we could have eternal life: good". I will venture no christian think that way when it come to jesus, but MANY want to give the impression that is the way to evaluate moral acts when it come to the OT events Lime discuss.
Blondie: Man what a stupid thing to say... "Blow up this building! They have no right to live!".

The finger: Im not asking God, im asking you: How many of the following deserve (in your view) an eternity of intense torture in hell:
a) Hitler.
b) a random murderer.
c) a thief

How many dimensions are there for sure? Tell me what exists and what doesn't. Unless you know everything how can you judge? Only by what God has revealed to you. Has he revealed everything?
What is with all the appeals to ignorance lately? "Maybe their is another dimension that is filled with PIE! You don't know everything, you can't prove it's not so!!" It's a stupid argument - you can suggest ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING with equal validity as the concept of god. God is on-par with my 'dimension of pie' concept.
Of course, suggesting there is 'pie out there that we can't detect' gains us absolutely, positively nothing. Just like suggesting there is a sky daddy out there who does magic things that we can't see. The concept alone is just a random idea - and that by itself gains us nothing.
Unless and until we can confirm a concept - that concept is of extremely limited value.
People write books on all sorts of unproven concepts - some turn out to be true, but many false. Personally, I don't employ the 'twiddle my thumbs until god (an unproven concept) decides to reveal things to me' method to determine what is supported by evidence to be real - and therefore have real value - and what isn't.
The bible is a book obviously written by men, about men... and occationally a man-like god. When god demands blood-baths, clearly his thinking - his way of solving problems, cannot be distinquished from man's thinking. Compared to our modern view of the value of life, clearly god's way of solving problems is inferior.
Imagine the US commanding it's soldiers to 'dash the little ones against the ground', to kill women and children... to 'rip open pregnant women', etc. The whole world would be outraged, and rightfully so.

You bring out a good point HOL.
That is why the Bible is a book of faith. You are allowed to take it or leave it. It was written in such a way that, while certain things can be proved without the shadow of a doubt, other things must be taken on faith.
The concept of faith is a major theme throughtout the Bible and IMO this is no accident. I believe that God requires faith and by not answering ALL of our questions conclusively, He allows us to come to Him in faith.

brotherdan: Would you agree that your view - which i find absolutely reasonable - does not give one a moral basis to eg. shun a family member who does not share ones faith?
