Ziddina said, "That's hilarious, considering that "Jehovah's Witnesses" are mis-pronouncing the tetragrammaton so badly as to create a totally different name than the true name of the Israelites' god - Yahweh...."
Not only that, but a good Bible-based™ argument can be made that "Jehovah's Witnesses" is the WRONG NAME for Jehovah's organization.
Most JWs are completely unaware of this fact, but as Tony Wills explains in "A PEOPLE FOR HIS NAME,"
"...Rutherford presented his answer in a lecture at Columbus,Ohio, in 1931. He showed the need
of a new name by such texts as the following:
"the Lord God shall slay thee and call his servants by another name." (Isaiah 65:15).
"thou shalt be called by a new name which the mouth of the Lord shall name."
(Isaiah 62:2).
Had Rutherford bothered to read two verses on from the last-quoted passage he would have
read, "thou shalt be called Hephzibah." (Isaiah 62: 4). Had he done so his organization would have
been called Hephzibah. But he did not do so. He found instead the passage "Ye are my witnesses,
saith Jehovah." (Isaiah 43: 10, 12). This passage has, of course, little or no connection to the one
about the name. Nevertheless, the new name became "Jehovah's Witnesses.""
