Still, as a people, “the chosen ones”
and their loyal companions will physically
survive the end of apostate Christendom by
    taking refuge in Jehovah

Since about 1935 this has always meant the annointed and the rank & file.

'Jehovah's witnesses' was a description, not a name, and only referred to the annointed.

The R&F were not Jehovah's witnesses, being referred to as Jonadabs, and only got salvation by being the loyal companions of Jehovah's witnesses.

So, no... it doesn't include UBMs. They are still bird food.

Know this and know it well:

You are observing a cold-hearted cult that is wounded. They are the epitome of their own description of Satan the Devil, fighting and clawing to drag down as many victims as possible, even in defeat.

They will sacrifice the lives of little children. They will repeat any lie they deem useful. Hypocrisy brings no shame to them and facts, whether from history or science, mean nothing to them.

You are seeing the sociopathic character of a man like Bernie Madoff manifest itself collectively thru the pages of the Watchtower magazine. This is not the sin of a man who steals merely to feed himself or who gives into lust. It is the evil of greediness, the stiff-necked lust for control by men with scar tissue for a conscience.

Never show them mercy. Never doubt that you are right to fight them - and never doubt that, brick by brick, you can bring them down.

Black sheep is correct (ding! ding1 ding! winner! winner!) about the identity of the "chosen ones" and thier "companions."

UBMs are birdfood, and their death frees the believing one to hook up with that hot new Brother from Bethel who is just *SO* spiritual (swoon).

Let me know if you can't find the sarcasm in that last sentence.

"... and JWs will be spared because they use Gods name (of all things! he is really picky about that name!). ..."

That's hilarious, considering that "Jehovah's Witnesses" are mis-pronouncing the tetragrammaton so badly as to create a totally different name than the true name of the Israelites' god - Yahweh....

If I ever get a Jehovah's Witness at my door again, I'm going to ask them how "God" feels, having them mangle the proper pronunciation of his real name... That's like having a friend named "Bob", but you keep calling him "Bill" - is "Bob" going to think of you as his good friend if you can't even get his name right???

Not only that, but a good Bible-based™ argument can be made that "Jehovah's Witnesses" is the WRONG NAME for Jehovah's organization.

Most JWs are completely unaware of this fact, but as Tony Wills explains in "A PEOPLE FOR HIS NAME,"

"...Rutherford presented his answer in a lecture at Columbus,Ohio, in 1931. He showed the need
of a new name by such texts as the following:

"the Lord God shall slay thee and call his servants by another name." (Isaiah 65:15).

"thou shalt be called by a new name which the mouth of the Lord shall name."
    (Isaiah 62:2).

Had Rutherford bothered to read two verses on from the last-quoted passage he would have
read, "thou shalt be called Hephzibah." (Isaiah 62: 4). Had he done so his organization would have
been called Hephzibah. But he did not do so. He found instead the passage "Ye are my witnesses,
saith Jehovah." (Isaiah 43: 10, 12). This passage has, of course, little or no connection to the one
about the name. Nevertheless, the new name became "Jehovah's Witnesses.""

The breastplate pictured on page 7 is reputed to have belonged to Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, the "Father of Modern Warfare" who would go into battle with no armor proclaiming "The Lord God, is my armor!", but that didn't work very well and he was shot by a Polish soldier in 1627, then killed in battle in 1632.

    Ooooo - kaaaaayyy...

THAT would have put a crimp in proslytizing...

    [knock, knock]

"Good morning, Sir!/Madam! How would you like to live forever in Paradise on Earth? We're "Hephzibahs", and we'd like to offer you a FREE bible study!!!"

    "You're WHAT???"

    [patiently...] "We're "Hephzibahs", sir..."

    "You're Hippo-zippers???"

    [still patiently...] "No, we're "Hephzibahs"...."

    "You're Hep - sippahs???

[not quite so patient, now...] "NO, we're "Hephzibahs"!!..."

    "You're Hep - zip - arghs???"

"NO, WE'RE INTERNATIONAL BIBLE STUDENTS!!!! [a bit more calmly...] Would you like a free bible study??"

    [SLAM!!!]
