I saw a story about the following video on the news last night and thought it was cute. I then showed the video to my daughter and she smiled.

    Here's the tv story: http://news.yahoo.com/video/world-15749633/sesame-street-teaches-self-esteem-22512445#video=22520085

I can totally relate to why the video was made, my daughter had the same negative opinion about her hair when she was smaller. I'm hoping she's growing out of it and has a better understanding and opinion about her hair.

My hair is baby fine and straight. When I was a kid, before I hit my mid teens, it was thinner. My mom put perms in my hair, trying to give it more "body." She even made it a lighter blonde when I was in the fourth grade, hoping it would make it more coarse. Over the years I rolled it, permed it, etc. I tried hair cuts that would not work with fine hair, so I had to have more perms. These days my hair won't hold a curl easily. My hair sure work in french braids or corn rows, it's too straight, fly away and fine.

From aged 17 until I was 37, I had tons of this fine, straight hair. One time I decided to try to crimp it. I crimped every layer and it took four hours! It looked like a long fro, parted down the middle. It was to the middle of my back, too. I didn't understand that when your hair is that thick, you only crimp the top layers. I am laughing thinking about it. But then Carrie came up pregnant when she was 17 and much of my hair fell out. I looked like I had male patterned baldness. Eventually, it did grow back in. Now it's not nearly as thick, but in a way, that's better.

Finally I have just decided that my hair wants to be straight and more one length. It's graying and I am not covering the gray--right now. I have come to love my hair. Now, if I could just find a stylist who knows how to cut straight, fine hair and make it look good!

PS: when I was younger, it was so oily I had to wash it everyday. During the summers I'd wash it twice a day.

My hair is curly and frizzy. If I just let it do its own thing, I look like Hermione from Harry Potter (in the first movie - they tamed her hair down after that) Sometimes I hate it (but most of the times I like it)

I grew a natural fro when I was young ( and I'm the whitest person you'll ever meet), thryoid and hormones and medication changed my hair to fine .

    I hate my hair.......

It takes forever to grow out....

Won't hold a curling iron curl for more than two hours but gets tendrils when it is humid or wet from rain!

Daughter hates her hair, shes got curly .......demanded her first flat iron at 3!

She got one of those 'instylers' for her B-day...... it is a godsend... no more 'clickin' and twistin' for me!

I wish they made wigs better!....(that said I have hangers of ponytail drops, clip extentions and volumizers!)

I have hair that changes with stress, surgery and medication too. I have been told many times I look like Sally Field and in my 20's Jane Fonda( I was very slender then) My dad used to say I looked like 'hot lips' from "Mash". I wore my hair like she did for some time..
