Unshackled and FTG.... I know, right?!

I just sounded like a tweenage girl.

Man, if money were no object, I'd have one of those guys tutoring my kids. I'd sit in, of course, because money's no object so I don't have to go to the office.

I've started posting their videos on FB, hoping that my lingering JW friends will take a look.

Some may find this interesting (may you all have peace!)... but I totally agree with the statements made in the video. Virtually every one. The only difference is I would say "faith"... where the narrator said "science." I think those whose religion is "science" are apt to be just as closed-minded as those whose religion is... well, religion. I particularly liked the following statements (which I have edited so that you might see what I mean):

"When 'spiritual' statements are made, a common response is 'How do you know that'? Sometimes there's a genuine curiosity behind the question, but often it's posed rhetorically, as an objection."

"People can be very keen to express opinions about spiritual matters they've never studied (or heard of/experienced), without having made any effort to acquaint themselves with the evidence for a given statement or even checked that they've understood its basic claims."

"Many seem to believe that their uninformed opinions qualify them to dismiss the statement as absurd, or that because they feel that because something's beyond their capacity for understanding that it's beyond then it's either beyond everyone's capacity for understanding... or it's simply impossible."

"Some immediately reveal a flawed understanding with objections like 'I never heard that about faith before,' and 'I never read that about faith in the Bible,' as though either is absolutely conclusive and faith is merely something that one can obtain simply by reading of it. In fact, with regard to the spirit, faith is the most powerful exercise of a belief in that which is beyond the physical world that one can demonstrate."

And I could go on, but I think you get my drift...

My point is that there really is NO difference in what the narrator is purporting to prove by his statements. The exact same statements can be used as an argument FOR faith. Since we really are spirits... in fleshly vessels (and I state that based on the FACT - which science may not be able to "prove" - that if you cut off my legs, indeed even remove my heart - I am STILL the same "person" - inside that altered body [of flesh] -I am not my body - I am the one WHO is inside my body)... why do we have to be at opposite poles?

There really is no reason why I shouldn't be able to know about both: the physical AND the spiritual. The physical world that belongs to the "man" I am on the outside... as well as the spirit world that I, the "man" I am on the inside... belong to.

I bid you all peace. Truly.

    A slave of Christ,

    SA
