It's all very simple to understand the literal account of Noah's flood. After angels disobediently come down and married women, God's solution was to destroy all the dinosaurs and most of the humans in a global flood. God's righteousness required that he let the disobedient angels survive... along with 3500 species of mosquitoes.
If We Were to Take the Flood Account Literally..

Noah was commissioned by God to preach to the human race, warning them of the coming flood and that they were to board the ark if they wanted to survive.
Sorry, you are missing the point completely.
NO AMOUNT of preaching would have made that ark bigger. By its very physical limitations, the device was insufficient to house large number of people.
God KNEW that only Noah and his immediate family will be boarding it, or he would have directed Noah to make it sufficiently big for the "human race"
Noah's preaching efforts were in vain, which makes the preaching direction of Allmighty very questionable. Don tcha think?

Again, I ask... what preaching?
Where in the account does it say that God directed Noah to preach...or that Noah even preached?

undercover,
Sorry, I had to leave for a while.
2 Peter 2:5 "and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly"

I see, well it's possible that things were already bad enough that the Creator knew most would not survive. That's poor reasoning I know but there doesn't seem to be any other explanation. I must say, your point is interesting and will require more consideration.
The Genesis account would seem to indicate that salvation was possible for the population of the time if only they would repent, but they took no note. Perhaps God foresaw this. -

....and YET, made Noah preach?! This seem just to you? Not to me, anyway...
What else, of what we are made to believe nowadays, is in vain too? Something? Everything?
The precedent is too powerful to ignore. Unless... the account is not literal

Oh... Peter said he preached...
What about the writer of the actual account? Did he indicate that Noah preached...or was commissioned to preach?

Billy the Ex-Bethelite
Of course Noah preached! The 3500 species of mosquitoes listened to his message and repented. So Noah brought them all on the ark.
Then, after they disembarked after the flood, God told everyone to abstain from blood. The mosquitoes all responded, "Suckers!" Mosquitoes have been happily, and unrepentantly drinking blood ever since.
The end.

Billy,
"Then, after they disembarked after the flood, God told everyone to abstain from blood. The mosquitoes all responded, "Suckers!" Mosquitoes have been happily, and unrepentantly drinking blood ever since."
Ahh, but you have it wrong, kind Ex-Bethelite. Technically, the mosquitos are not taking a life!
