Stephen and DD, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. I do agree that without the HS, we are just guessing, because from the scriptures alone and taken literally, there are so many different options. Even more options if one does not believe in the inerrancy of the bible.

    tec, DD, Stephen, PSac, Burn-

Just incredible, really, just incredible- you can't even see it can you, you really can't, just like we couldn't for a time when we were JWs.

I'm really sorry for you all, it breaks my heart, it really does.

    PSac-

I know, you come here having family who may have been Witnesses or you want to vent about the JWs and their beliefs and 'witness' about your particular Christian views. Its all a healthy debate. Something that should be aired. The public needs to know what you believe and then decide its merits.

I'm really sorry for you though. 2010 and for some its still the Bronze Ages of superstitions and lore. And the videos, oh my gawd the videos. Its worse than seeing David Splane live, and you suck it up, incredible, really, just incredible.

I'm so glad this is being aired for the protection of all of our children and grandchildren.

(In my best little old Red Skelton voice)

And what a cute little judgmental heart you have.

    DD-

Read Thomas Payne's The Age of Reason if you haven't. Pitying people who are stuck in Bronze Age belief systems is a judgement, actually an out in the open challenge to this nonsense.

So here we debate its merits. And we debate the merits of the God you worship, the one who gets the credit for creating this Hell place. The Trinity, one of the all time worse concepts to have invaded humanity, an immoral and unethical a God as has ever been conceived by the human mind.

So let's continue the debate and expose it for all to see.

According to the bible, death is the penalty for sin and separation from God. Only living people can suffer, so 'god' would have to bring people back to life with the intention of making them suffer in hell.

This would mean he was creating flawed and sinful people just to make them suffer. It would mean that the penalty for sin was not death but a life of suffering at god's hand. A god of love would not be a god of love if he did this.

I don't believe in an individual god that is separate from us and can be reduced or simplified so as to make sense to humans. We are all a part of what is and can never be separated from that. What is, is too vast to comprehend.

According to many religious people, because I do not believe Jesus to be divine, I am already in hell! I can only continue to enjoy being in hell and being a part of life; looking out at the awesome universe from my lowly perspective and feeling empathy for people who live in fear of hell.

Gladiator, I'm surprised you haven't figured it out by now!

The parts of the Bible that support your particular theological viewpoint are "literal".

Parts of the Bible which contradict your particular theological viewpoint are "symbolic".

Scripture: Romans 6:23, "the wages sin pays is death"

To a JW, that "death" is literal, to a fundy Christian it is symbolic.

Scripture: Revelation 20:10, "lake of fire, eternal torment"

To a JW, that "lake" and "torment" are symbolic; to a fundy Christian, they are "literal"

What a wonderful book the Bible is! You can use it to support any viewpoint that makes you feel happy - or at least superior to others.

I feel sorry for you and your grandchildren. I'm glad my Grampa loved me enough to teach me not to judge according to the flesh the way you do. It amazes me that you would pull that stunt after some of the comments you've made about people simply because they believe in the trinity, not to mention what you've said about people who believe in hell. The hate and anger you bring here, has been seen by many.

We will see what kind of "Grampa" you are when God reaches down to save your grandchildren. Would you still love them then? From some of the comments I've seen you make, we'd have to wonder.
