The circuits also pay for the CO's and DO's apartments, medical, fuel etc. I don't think the society is covering those costs anymore.

That's why being a Publisher is not a Good Idea. You can't Vote in the Hall. (Did you guys vote on things during the meetings?)

And You don't need to pay for Assemblies either. Stay Home JW's ....for your own good and your Pocketbook also.

Here it has always been a suggestion not an order.

They've been charging $3 to $5 per person, per day all along.

It's not like they have a list and know who has contributed and who hasn't. It is still anonymous. I can remember announcements what it averaged out to per publisher...it is like when they "suggested" what should be donated for CDs and videotapes.

A friend of us, publisher with his wife told us that in their country (Italy) the elders are used to ask the 5 or 6 euros per publisher, days before the beginning of the convention, in order to send the money to the Betel before the assembly starts. How clever this is: elders ask to everybody the money, so they can have a strict control on everybody, so this is compulsory, where is finished: your left hand doesn't know what the right....

Can you think to families with two, three children also publishers? This is quite an amount to pay in order to assist an assembly in their own assembly hall !!!

    Money, money, money...what a shame!

"The PO in my Mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of EVERY publisher to put £3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall. No ifs, no buts. ..."

    Haw!

MANDATORY TITHING has arrived!!! [if this really happens...???]

deep-blue, how do they handle that? Does an MS or elder go around and ask them directly for the money and check it off on a list?

Yes.IT was $3.00 but no one new except the elders/po/co until they decided to pass a resolotion and increased it to $5.00 per publisher.I'll never understand expense for this c.a. is so many dollars when it is held in a Assebly hall that is paid for all expenses paid for(water/e/paper etc ins etc)The c.a/sad are part of our worship just like a sunday meeting.

If I rent a place and pay rent for all my utilities the landlord will not charge me extra for Xmas decorations.

Hi Blondie, I was told that elders go around in the KH asking to individuals for their share. I don't know if they have a list...they should have one in order to not miss somebody!

I always dropped in $5/family member/day. Family of four, 3 day DC: $60.00.

And I always told myself how cheap it was compared to seeing B. B. King at the same venue.

    What a dope!
