    "Householder"

    "Not at Homes"

"Auxillary Pioneer" or any use of "Pioneer" for that matter.

    "Service Minded"

Oh and the worst one "Center of the Congregation" just a way of justifying favoritism and elitism.

"Going out in the Field" "Return Visits"

The phrase that always made me giggle, was in dramas, when someone would always say "even so". Then it seemed like it came up a few more times. The giggles overcame me in later years, so I just stopped going.

I'm glad that Venice mentioned Mrs Ozzie's pet hate : "behooves".

Mine was "however". Whenever you heard that in an assembly talk, you knew that you were going to be startled out of your agreeable comfort zone i.e. they were going to state what they really thought which was the opposite of what had gone before.

Also, why hasn't anyone mentioned that 19th century 'in' word "class"? Russell got it from Karl Marx and used it as the key point in his interpretation of Daniel's 'king of the north and king of the south". He claimed that they were labour and capital - straight out of Karl Marx's little tome! We've been stuck with 'this class' and 'that class' ever since.

    Cheers,

    One I really hated was:

worldlings made everyone on the outside sound like aliens! icky word.

and then there was always "oldsters"

    organization, especially when pronounced or-gan-I-zation!

Stop it y'all! I'm having flashbacks lol

What I always hated was being admonished to refer to a congregation dividing as FORMING A NEW CONGREGATION, instead of the common terms SPLITTING or DIVIDING. The reason told was that the word divide or split would make it look unfavorable, like there were problems.

I always disliked the terms WORLDLY and SHEEP-LIKE-ONES. Both always denoted superiority.

What about elders "stepping down" (not simply resigning, you understand) but getting down off some lofty throne? Or maybe just getting off the platform?

I always love your posts! You never get up my nose baby...I leave that to others to do!

    My personal HATES were:

Spiritual food (Fuck that, give me a burger and fries)
The TRUTH (I always used to cock up at school and when asked what religion I was I would answer I am in the Truth....UURGH)

I agree with BritBoy. "The Truth" is the worst phrase imaginable. They have no other name for their religion. Individuals are called Jehovah's Witnesses but what's the religion itself called? It's a classic mind-control technique because it's very difficult to get your head around the idea that "The Truth" is not true. By definition it's a contradiction and is reponsible for the cognitive dissonance many people experience when they realise that their "Truth" is built upon lies.

    Funkyderek,

I agree, it always struck me as totally ludicrous when an ex-witness, or even a virulently opposed ex-witness would still refer to the cult of dubbism as The Truth.

When talking to dubs, I always use the term “The witness religion”, using the Truth term only enables them in their misguided thought patterns.
