@Smoky - Where you an elder? Assuming so if you had the book. Well obviously you won't be that anymore. The rest depends on your body of elders and your attitude and what the e-mail said. If you want to stay in and you didn't send a whistle-blower type e-mail, you could probably simply say, something like you were trying to prove to a few opposers that there was nothing 'secret' about the book and that it has information that can generally be had found in various publications.(Something simliar happened to me when I showed a publisher the flock book, to show them it was nothing special)

Any other attitude and you will probably be labeled an apostate and DF'd. Probably won't sue, not worth it unless you are still sending it out, probably will just get a scary legal sounding letter saying to stop all distribution of the material.

    lisaBObeesa -

I love your logic about that JW who wrote back to me about the Sheep Herding Book. My gut tells me that he was lying about asking the COBOE - as you suggested. He may have asked another elder or someone else in the KH who he thinks might be "in the know." They may be either not know or be sworn to keep it "hush-hush."

Anyway - I was going to offer to send him an online link to the book, but when I sent him another email it bounced back at me as being "undeliverable." So to hell with him.

But the very idea that a JW could lie to me about talking to his COBOE - I didn't think JWs ever lie except when they are using "theocratic strategy" to protect other brothers and the Organization from attacks by outsiders.

There sure seems to be an awful lot of "strategy" going on right now...

As mentioned earlier, I think the "dumb" role is the best to play. Since you are not an elder and theoretically others don't know the book even exists, I think you can convince them that you were not being malicious when you did it.

I would drive to the Kingdom Hall. Prior to going in, I would pray for forgiveness. Then I would take a broom handle and practice on myself prior to going in.

I would just say that I was curious and thought it was interesting and that certainly there was nothing out of line in the manual and maybe it was a lapse in judgment, but the book didnt say that if a publisher got ahold of it, that if he passed it out that there would be judicial action, and there are no scriptural principles against emailing out the elder manual.

OK, I finally spoke to the Elder on the Phone (that way i only speak to 1 elder). He was quite upset with me, asking me why did i email this. Mind you iv'e known this elder since he was in grammer school. His tone was quite serious (elder talk), than last time i spoke to him.

    ME: "what email?"

Elder: "the email you sent to 4 people about the Book...why would you do that?"

ME: "I thought it was good information to know... i sent it to friends that would find it interesting."

Elder: "the information does not pertain to you, it is a guide for Elders." How did you get the book?

Me: "A friend in NY mentioned it to me, and i asked if i can have a copy...and he sent to me." "he always send me all the New Information the Society is going to release, New WT/Awake magazines months in advance, District/circuit themes, name of book to be released. Things happening in Bethel, like the closures...etc."

Elder: "Are you willing to cooperate?" (this question got me worried)

    Me: "What do you mean?"

Elder: "What is this persons name?" ME: "Im not in liberty to say. (Elder chuckles)"

Elder: "Is this person an Elder?"

Me: "Im not in liberty to say. (Elder chuckles again) I dont want to get anyone else involved. Its my error/problem to deal with."

Elder: "I know 3 of the 4 people you sent this to, can you tell me who: [email protected] is?

Me: I dont want to get anyone else involved. Do you think i had a malicious intention?

Elder: "NO, just wanted to get to the bottom of this. The information is not meant to be for anyone other than the Elders.

Me: "I apologized i just saw it as information...nothing more...what can i do with it...hold a JC...No." I will not send it to anyone else, and will destroy the Copy."

Elder: Alright then I will talk to you soon. We should get together sometime its been a while.

    Me: Yes, we should...ok, bye.

I was paraphrasing most of it...but it did go down rather serious and go more friendly toward the end. I will have to say I also spoke to the "Benedict Arnold" after my talk with the Elder and he was Sorry for what had happened. He said he was careless when he mentioned the book he received, to the Elder (his bro). The Elder went to the computer to see. He apologized for his indiscrestion. He knew he screwed up. I believe him. He told me does not think his bro is going to make a big deal (maybe caus ewe known each other forever), but if he mentions it to any other elder...that can go out the window. He said he will talk to him and see whats up.

I will say i really screwed, i did the opposite of what some of you metioned NOT to do. I wrote "Secret Elder Book" in the Email, the .pdf included the Letters to elders, and I did not sent to friends using BBC:

Im such a dumbass. Lets see if it gets worse, or it blew over.

My friend txt me, telling me that his bro might just Send and email out to those who received the book and encourage them not to distribute and delete their copy of book. Of course he probably use some Elder speak to make it official.

But hope that is it. Ef that, im keeping everything to myself from now on.

Thanks you guys for the great ideas, suggestions, and support.

Glad you seem to be off the hook. But don't be surprised if you get another call from the elder just to 'have a little chat' about it. They probably want to see in person how repentant you really are. If they do want to meet with you, tell them that you've prayed reeeeeally really hard to Jehovah about it and prayed for his forgiveness and that you feel super-duper bad about the whole thing.

With that said, I think I'm going to send a coil-bound copy to the Slobbering Body members as a Christmas present, along with a copy of the letter instructing that 'sisters aren't allowed to see it.' I'm going to include a note stating:

"Here is a coil-bound copy of the Not-So-Secret Elders' Manual which was read and then coil-bound by an apostate female. Merry Christmas you chauvanistic jackasses."

    heh-heh-heh.......
