Not so much anger as frustration. When faced with blind faith and refusal to consider any contrarian perspective whatsoever, no matter how well founded and supported by evidence, the true atheist cannot help but experience frustration. The true atheist has arrived at what he perceives to be true through an intellectual processes, not an emotional one. He reasons, he examines the evidence, he looks exhaustively for flaws in the argument and, finding none, he succumbs to his perception of reality. There is no anger in that.

I think there are more thanone type of atheist.

There are angry ones, that's for sure, just as there are angry believers.

Some are angry because they have the "fanatacisim of the convert" ( they left religion and are angry for what it did to them) others are angry because they see religion as being harmful to people.

Most atheist are just "regular atheists" that simply don't believe because they se no reason or evidence to believe, they couldn't care less if anyone does believe.

I think that angry atheists and angry believers have far too much in common with each other.

I agree with james_woods about how the reasons for angry militancy among atheists are often self serving. It seems so reactionary and infantile IMO. I find the vicious ridicule of more harmless forms of belief rather off putting and I refuse to put myself in that kind of company. I refuse to side with atheism in general for that reason.

Honestly, atheists who viciously mock and ridicule Christians, Muslims, et al, on a continual basis are no better than the ones they criticize. They are as utterly dogmatic as the ones they fight against. What happened to "live and let live"?

PS: Sure, the Devil is in the details. On the other hand, the Divine can be found when you look at the big picture.

Vampire, I've always heard that expression as, "God is in the details".....

To better understand us, the Christian merely needs to ask himself what he thinks about Islam. Do you hate Allah? Are you angry with Allah? Do you refuse to acknowledge his authority in your life? Are you in rebellion against him? The point is that these kinds of questions are silly, aren’t they? They are silly because you do not believe Allah exists. You do not consider yourself in rebellion against Allah. You are not an Allah hater, either. You just don’t believe he exists. That’s us, when it comes to the Christian God. We just don’t think he exists. We don't consider ourselves to be rebelling against him, just as you don’t consider yourself to be rebelling against Allah

Beautiful analogy that thinking Christians should be able to wrap their minds around!

Regarding the Allah argument, it is not that I don't think he exists. Allah is just the Muslim name for God.

And what would you classify among the 'harmless forms of belief'? I find them all 'harmful' to those who submit life and mind to belief in fantasy while bypassing reality. That includes all forms of 'belief', if by 'belief' you mean to say acceptance of God without proof - ergo 'faith'.
