Anyone catch Bristol's smartass comment about the prospects of winning?
"Winning this would mean a lot. It’d be like a big middle finger to everyone who hates my Mom and me."
This reinforces Simon's original comment about her black/white thinking. She's likened all this hub-bub to her just being Sarah Palin's daughter and they "hate" her for that and that alone.
While I'll admit that there are some people who are that devoid of a real life to get caught up in that thinking, the majority of people who griped and complained did so because she's not that good of a dancer (comparitively speaking) and didn't really deserve to be in the finals.
This is a dance competition slash popularity contest. On the popularity side, she did quite well. (And as a side point - if you're gonna use your momma's name to get famous on a dance show, you're gonna have to take the bad with the good, little miss snide) On the dancing side, she didn't do so well. She got better over the course of the show...but then if you had left Florence Henderson in that long, she would have gotten better as well. So that's no reason to say she deserved to be there. Rick Fox and Kurt Warner deserved it as much if not more using that logic.
Even though Jennifer Grey got on my nerves somewhat at times, I'm glad she won. She was the best dancer out of the three that were left. I do think Brandy would have won, had she made the finals. With Jennifer's injuries/limitations, Brandy could have pulled out all the stops and brought the house down.

Actually, I think David Hasselhoff was the best dancer and deserved to win. He just got kicked off because everyone hated his mommy.

I completely and totally lost interest in these shows when Crystal Bowersox lost American Idol. As pointed out above it's a popularity contest, not a talent contest.

put me in the "hater" category. I hate whiners.
We hate her because of her Mom but she would have never been on that show without her Mom. Suck it up.

If I didn't know who she is and I went purely on the quality of her dancing and her apparent lack of talent (she moves like a cow) then I would have to say that she didn't deserve to win.
And guess what? She didn't win.
I'm no hater, I just like fair play.
