it just shows what a fraud pioneering is though. It is not about saving people from death but just counting time and the JW's saving their own butts.

My wife's grandfather use to do this dis-service in the nursing homes. He was a good man..blah.blah.blah BUT my dilemma was and still is about telling old dubs about the truth while they themselves preach BS to these old people being close to death. It's like that movie The Invention Of Lying which was totally funny. These people in the nursing homes don't have a hope that really satisfies them, they don't want to die and many love to talk about the good old days so when the dub comes with the hope of everlasting life in perfect conditions, showing the bible around, these people cheer up because now they have someone telling them what they want to hear.
I understand that the dubs doing this dis-service believe in their own shit and maybe it's ok to give these old people false sense of security as it may help them die in a more peaceful state - I don't know - but I find it horribly that jws will prey on those in their weakest state of mind. And yet, I would find it hard to tell old dubs the truth about the BS belief system. Is it better to die delusional with a hope than die knowing the truth that the most likely outcome is that there is nothing after death?

During one of the yearly regular pioneer schools I went to, the CO greatly encouraged finding what he called "captive audiences". He specifically mentioned people on public transportation, in prison, and in nursing homes. I don't know if that was just his idea, or off an outline. But he greatly encouraged finding people in situations where they "couldn't slam the door in your face", and were forced to listen to you.
Personally as a pioneer, our cargroups visited the local nursing homes at least a dozen times a week. One of the congos in our circuit had a prison, and I know they did the same there.
As previous posters said, and from my personal experience, almost every person in the nursing home was ecstatic to have somebody come see them. Half these poor souls were abandoned by their family and we were the only visitors they had. This was about the only aspect of JWs work that I would still consider "charitable" even if that was not the intention any of us had.
I cannot emphasize how much it breaks your heart when you see an 80+ year old person who is bed-ridden, and in continuous pain break into a truly heartfelt smile when someone comes to see them. True JW believer or not, it made me want to shake my fist in the sky and say "WTF Jehovah. Is it really worth all this pain and suffering to satisfy your ego?" I'm not kidding. Visiting nursing homes and seeing the non-stop suffering really made me question if the issue of universal sovereignty and vindication of God's name was worth the price and if a loving God would truly feel that way.

If my Dad goes into one of these places, I'm gonna make sure they don't know where. Their message does nothing to uplift him and everything to push him down.

I think it a disgusting and disrespectful practice! jw's ought to be ashamed of themselves.

No, they will only feel ashamed if the GB says they ought. If the GB is silent on the matter then it is ok or a conscience matter.

I used to call on a nursing home because there was an old man who like the WT and Awake.
Whatever the case, if you think it is wrong, then YOU go to the nursing homes and give those people a glimmer of YOUR hope for them and for yourselves.
Give them some of YOUR comfort.
Whether the witnesses are right or wrong, at least they are trying to do something.
Some of you are real pieces of work.
