I don't think that's by coincidence either. I have a copy of this via the bound volumes. My dad needed me to get something in his attic, and I decided to spend a little more time up there than usual just for this.

Nicely written, Mad.
I don't know that I want to beat readers over the head with the point.
That depends on who comprises your audience. We apostates get it. A current JW would spin the facts in his/her head so that the story is still a positive for obedience to the WTBTS:
"Andrew knew in his heart that, even though his fleshly body had grown tired, his spirit was strong and willing and that serving Jehovah refreshed his resolve to see the end of this wicked system of things, which surely could not be far off. He knew that 40 years was but the blink of an eye to Jehovah and the GB - none of whom ever lifted a floor buffer, true, but still......"

You could try this as an ending.....
..... then Armageddon came and 6 billion people never lived happily ever after! Andrew thought to himself, it's good Jehovah is a God of Love and Justice!

MS, is Andrew related to Andre?
He had spent the last forty-two years of his life believing that the words he read as an eighteen-year-old in the Awake! magazine, “face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things…you will never fulfill any career that this system offers,” were true.
I was 5 years old when this article was printed. Part of that article said you would not go to high school. It was round about grade 10 that I had an epiphany. It hit hard.... "Hey, I'm not supposed to be here!"
But there I was. Luckily, I realized I had been lied to, put my plan together for life, got educated, and found a good paying job.
