Damn PubCult. It's a tragedy that hits home for a lot of people, isn't it? Sorry they stole your brother and ruined his life. I'm trying to find some positive spin to his experience but there just isn't one. The cult is pure evil. They suck.

Great job, Mad. I would leave the ending as is. It has a nice Hemingway kind of feel, like "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place," one of my favorites. If you haven't read that short story, check it out.

I can't begin to know your pain or your brother's pain. Thank you for sharing. Your brother obviously strived to do what he was taught was the "right thing". What a waste of potentially productive life!

It is definitely found at my kingdom hall library. I already believed what I read here. But since I mentioned it to my wife, I decided to do "research" while at the meeting and confirmed it to her by looking at the actual magazine. Confirmed, but again, they are just imperfect men.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Many Witnesses are in blissful ignorance that their religion has been saying the same thing over and over again for many decades. This needs to be publicized.
Well, all I can say is that I am glad I wasn't sitting in a kingdom hall in 1969 listening to this useless garbage. I was getting prepared for a career in the working world. My mistake was to stumble into a kingdom hall some years later.
My condolences to anybody in the religion who is shocked with the reality of living to an old age in this world and having to provide for themselves. It ain't easy for anybody, including non-JWs. But, at least they knew all along they had to prepare for it.
