Yes they are, funny enough this has been even confirmed in some countries legislation. For example in my lilliput country's legislation the mother's faith is designing what religious group the child is considered belonging to, before coming mature enough to decide thing on their own. Mother and father can ofcourse agree mutually about this, but before certain age mother can unilaterally decide the religious nomination for her child, without father's concent.

From JW organisation point of view in these days, my observation is, that women are in great majority. When they are married, they often act as the glue that keeps the man operational in organisation. This was the case for me also for decades, on my own I would have gone bad for years ago. My educated guess is that this applies to many other religious movements too.

CP . . . this is driving me crazy . . . just what is this "lilliput" country of yours?

PS: Can't disagree with your observations re; womens role . . . interesting from your perspective. A negative for males is they often end up with weak relationships in thier own families when thier time get's sucked away . . .

    Dear Murray,

As this is a lilliput country I rather not reveal it, for respect to my stillin family. But from my writing style you can calculate away all Anglo-American countries.

What I am going to say may sound nasty and mean-spirited. I assure you it is NOT intended in that tone.

Men are power seekers and control freaks. Without using women as drones to do the grunt work of religion

throughout history and spackle the cracks in the ridiculous and dysfunctional aspects of ritual and faith....

religion would have died out like small camp fires in the wilderness.

Women are used to indoctrinate us from the cradle and fill our heads with fairy-tales of invisible gods, demons, angels

and rewards and punishments which pave the road for later total acceptance of insane mythic scenarios that we men are

willing to kill and die for.

We absorb the emotional resonance of complete and total absolute FAITH from our wives and mothers. It convinces us!

It is viral. We transmit it. Generation to generation.

How many married JW men would gladly abandon the Kingdom hall for good were it not for the extreme resistance and emotional blackmail of their

    wife?

The illogic and the irrational are made flesh and blood and vividly believable because our wife or mother convicts us with their devotions.

The central nervous system of a woman demands SECURITY. Only religios piety and hope for the future can satisfy that craving!

SPIRITUALITY is a disease the symptoms of which are calming fears and building solutions to everyday threats by dwelling in the imaginary

brainfever of totally delusional wishful thinking.

    Go ahead.....read that again.

Early Christianity largely spread because of the viral nature of political expediency among pagan leaders, rulers and kings whose mothers, daughters and wives had accepted the Christian Faith. The wife has the ear. The wife has the influence. The wife has the emotional persuasion. Moral suasion, you might call it. And certainly the long-term influence over children as I mentioned above.

Women in the Roman empire were ready and willing to embrace the peaceful aspects of christianity after centuries of seeing their sons grow up and die in silly wars. Christinaity was "turn the other cheek." Christianity was pro-family. Christianity was anti-politics.

Slowly but inexorably it was women who made Christianity a powerful and mighty influence.

Men retained the power as long as they possibly could by creating marginal status for their christian wives and daughters, but, today we see that women have finally broken through the "glass ceiling" of prejudice and Pauline prohibitions.

Turn on your tv and visit your local christian bookstore. WOMEN ARE TAKING OVER RELIGION at long last.

Terry, I disagree. For me, your statement is 100% correct when the word Spirituality is replaced with Religion. I do not see the 2 as the same.

I do not define Spirituality as believing in something delusional but rather planning and putting into action tasks and goals set out to accomplish positive results, especially for those less fortunate or those down-trodden. Atheists can be very spiritual.

We would have avoided falling prey to this cult were it not for the self-esteem and control issues of the women in my family. There is no doubt in my mind this is true.

I think men and women are both spiritual but express it in different ways. My hubby likes trees, plants, etc the outdoors. He once reported feeling a spiritual feeling while walking in the garden. That is his way of being spiritual- working with the earth. He seldom prays formally, but has what one would call a prayerful attitude. My father worked almost every day of his life , seldom calling in sick. He provided for his family the best he could . That is spiritual for a man, being a good father. Music also moves my hubby.. Helping build a church or KH is a spiritual thing for him..

Myself I find that just via being female and having given birth I am more in tune with my children.. A woman is very connected to her children in a way a man just is not able to be. Those children came from her literal body and if something happens to one of them I feel it -literally. I am also moved by music and good writing and see a life of service to others as very spiritual. All women go through the "change of of life" at some point . At that times a women can become more spiritual, political and even start a new career. A woman has raised her own children so she now can focus on others in a ministry type way.

More women than men become psychics. This is a personal choice whether you believe in the supernatural, but women are more attracted to it than men.

When I think of the way men express spirituality I think of jimmy Stewart in Shenandoah.

this has always been one of my favorite movies and I love the prayer scene. He not being irreverent, though some might see that. He just knows that God helps those who help themselves.

    Think about what SPIRITUALITY means.

    God on your OWN terms.

People who are sick of church and religion have split off from the herd mentality and adopted a DO-IT-MYSELF-ON-MY-OWN-TERMS relationship

    with God.

Where is the disagreement, then? YOU are the organizer of your own belief. What sounds "true" and what "works".

But--women HISTORICALLY did not use the word SPIRITUAL to describe themselves or their piety. They simply said "Faith."

Spirituality is a modern word in the manner in which it is used to create a sense of separation from the group mentality.

Essentially, however, it is the SAME PROCESS as before---only--without a roof!

Don't confuse putting on your Sunday hat and sitting in a pew with religions. That is social ritual.

We live in an age of Privitization of Ritual.

Women STILL INFLUENCE their children and their husband.

Women may watch and read Joyce Meyers or swoon over Joel Osteen or do Yoga and recycle and eat vegetables as RITUAL.

BUT FAITH as an emotional element IS STILL SELF-HYPNOSIS and WISHFUL THINKING no matter what private ritual you connect it to.
