Mr. Falcon, about those "windows", from Wiki:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmament

The modern bible, and non-canonical related texts, present a detailed view of cosmology that is incompatible with modern scientific knowledge. [ 7 ] The firmament was a great tent-like [ 8 ] ceiling made of solid crystalline material, [ 9 ] which might be pierced by skyscraper and gimlet. [ 10 ] It had many windows, some of which opened and closed for the sun and moon to travel through [ 11 ] or to let water, which was held above, fall through as rain. [ 12 ] On top there were also warehouses of snow and hail. [ 13 ] Stars were small objects that were attached tenuosly to its surface. [ 14 ]

Genesis 2:5,6 says: "And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it
grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground."
The word in this verse for rain is:4305 matar maw-tar' a primitive root; to rain:--(cause to) rain (upon). But at Genesis 7:12, where it says "and the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights", we see a
    different word for rain:
1653 geshem gheh'-shem from 1652; a shower:--rain, shower. Then we look at the root word and it says:1652 gasham gaw-sham' a primitive root; to shower violently:--(cause to) rain.So here we have a "violent" rain, versus a soft, misty rain described in Genesis 2:5.

There I go drooling again.... This is evidence, not of the bible's scientific accuracy, but of the sheer ignorance of the bible writers and those living at that time. Supposedly it was Moses who was "inspired" to write the book of Genesis... and this just goes to show he couldn't have possibly been inspired to write such inaccuracies. Whoever did write Genesis was writing purely from what they themselves THOUGHT about how their world worked and came to be in existence.

Sweetheart, perhaps if you poured milk on your breakfast cereal instead of scotch, that might cut down on the drooling.

Prodigal Son and Morbidz, thank you both very much for the references. You have restored my faith in my own sanity.

ROFL maybe!! I think maybe it's a sign that I have to stop reading information that makes me dumber with every single line line of irrational thought...

As for your own sanity...let's not stretch the truth, now...lol We're all mad here...

There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in,

They're ever so small, that's why rain is thin.

Reading secular literature and doing REAL research is the only thing that keeps my mind from melting. If a person read nothing but Watchtower propaganda, they would become functionally retarded. I actually know people who have long commutes and they literally listen to the Watchtower and Awake audio CDs for 4 hours a day.

how in the blue fack can you listen to Watchtower CD's for 4 hours a day?!?

LMAO Falcon... That reminds me... When I get in the car and realize there is a JW CD in the player... I mean, I turn on the car and it's KingDUMB Maladies or a talk or a Watchtower... I literally SCREAM then take it out and throw it across the car. I believe at one point I shouted "Out!! OUT you demons of insanity!!"

And while I am open to reading secular stuff (it's pretty much all I read), there are still some writings of so-called "Christian scholars" that are...well..stupifying...lol

I avoid christian literature regardless of denomination.

Recently, my super-conservative JW mother berated me for reading Lord of the Rings and got even more upset when I watched the movie in front of my kid. I asked her what the big deal was and she said, "That book has demons, dragons, magic and violence in it!" to which I replied, "Well, so does the Bible."

Then I dropped the microphone and walked off stage.

Right on lol. Demons (obviously), magic (miracles, anyone? Or perhaps a smattering of King Saul and the witch of EnDor?), and dragons, well that's easy... "And down the great dragon was hurled..."....lol
