For me Capitialism exploits the poor, and we communism nobody can really progress.So for me personally I like no syestem at all they both suck.

Actually, neither system has been tried in it's truest form. All experiments in communism have been bastardized forms -and so has western "capitalism." I'm actually kind of leaning toward democratic socialism, myself.

Scary...I struggled through it, just to get a sense of where Rand's acolytes were coming from...but it was freakin' ponderous. I also don't see that egoism is a legitimate ethical schema. I just don't see the value of it long term. I'm going to try and read "The Fountainhead" and "Anthem" because I feel it's important to do so to better understand the pro-corporate neo-conservatives. They are far from my favorites, but they are in the queue on iBooks.

Soc. It is our only hope to save the planet.

First we must define what we want the world to look like - economically and socially. Do we want the highest GDP without regard to quality of life for the majority? Do we value global power without regard to the survival of our citizens? Do we invest in the well-being of our people - families, children and, yes, the elderly (since we will all be there someday)? Do we value the quality of our water, our air and our soil?

These and others are the questions we should be asking ourselves before we decide upon an economic system. These types of questions should determine our choices.

Both (actually, all) systems fail miserably, because each depends on unrealistic ideals of people. Communism isn't the answer, because everybody suddenly has a bad back and is unable to work, but their reward is the same. Capitalism won't work, because the successful companies create monopolies and lobby lawmakers until the market is no longer free. Corruption and selfishness always end up ruining any economic system.

A traditional "nuclear" family is a communism: Dad works, mom cleans, everybody eats, and the kids go to college. That can work on a scale where everybody loves everybody else, but you can't run an entire government of strangers that way.

Theoretically, a free market will drive companies to offer the best quality at the lowest prices, while not alienating their customer base by destroying the environment. In reality, nobody cares as long as they aren't the ones getting cancer from chemical dumping contaminating the water supply. So, they buy crap from sweat shops covered in lead-based paint.

Ultimately, a benevolent and wise dictator who has our best interests at heart is the optimum form of government. Unfortunately, benevolent and wise people are hard to come by, harder to get into power, and prone to human limitations, mistakes, and eventual death. Now, where have we heard of a government like this that can actually accomplish its goals perfectly and last forever?
