An unimpressive, unsaved, malcontented bible critic named CT Russell
Unsaved? I have a hard time reading your posts, Perry, they are chock-full of heavily implied judgements. I strain to live my life trying to understand people, alive or dead, instead of just deeming them "saved" or "unsaved". I don't mean to disrespect you, but such words strike a chord with me.

Lil: I will admit you cannot prove that people have personally experienced God UNLESS you are willing to objectively look at just HOW people's lives are dramatically changed, sometimes literally overnight.
Lil, were you ever a JW? Do you know how many people have overcome addictions to nicotine, hard drugs, sex, etc... when they started studying with JWs? Faith is powerful. God doesn't have to be part of the equation for faith to change people. They only have to think he is.
Also, as someone else said, I'm not sure that faith can move mountains but I've seen what it can do to skyscrapers.
Perry: God has given man a sixth sense. It is called common sense. Everyone has it, whether saved or not. Using it is a choice though.
"Common sense is nothing more than a deposit of prejudices laid down by the mind before you reach eighteen." - Albert Einstein
Well put, Sab.

I don't think Perry reads the posts on his own thread.

I don't think Perry reads the posts on his own thread.
I think you're right, darlin. He's never gonna answer my question.

Perry, I am personally unimpressed with this. Too much "he-said, she-said" BS. What matters is the evidence, not what people say. And if the universe didn't come from nothing, what did God make it from? How did God make everything? When something is DESIGNED and CREATED, Perry, it is formed from preexisting materials. If it is not, then what the hell is it made from then? And who says the universe comes from nothing anyway? It probably came from something. And even if we don't know or understand how something works, it doesn't mean God did it, for the EXACT same reasons not being able to explain how a magician can pull a rabbit out of a hat does NOT indicate that it's really magic. And even if God did make everything, what God are you talking about? Are you aware that people of all faiths that believe in a creator-god use this exact same reasoning to refute evolution, and then conclude that THEIR God made everything? Do you know they use this stuff to prove THEIR God created everything? Your creator-god ideas are thus no more valid than any of theirs. And if evolution is wrong, it doesn't mean God made everything. Certainly, there are more hypotheses in this argument than just two extremes. You seem too smart to be so close-minded.

I allow myself to be ignorant of certain things when I see that I'm not up to the intellectual challenge.
I don't have enough acumen, education or conversancy with the dispute of Evolution to keep my head clear of false persuasions.
But, I can recognize when the fight isn't fairly framed.
For one thing: There is a difference between a Model T and automobiles as they now exist.
If I were anti-automobile I would be less than honest to create an argument over safety issues, design issues, pollutions issues
AS APPLY TO THE MODEL T.
This is what Creationists largely do: they frame an argument against moder science in a context of 19th century Darwin hypothesis.
Secondly, I'm constantly amazed how few Creationists know the name of the book THE ASCENT OF MAN. Why? Because this is the book
that they really have issue with and not ORIGIN of SPECIES.
The things believers are afraid of is reflected in the number and quality of books their apologists write each year. By far, apologists rain down a cascade of anti-Darwin tomes which recycle a litany of already refuted arguments.
This means they either don't listen to or read or reflect upon the answers to the questions raised----or, they are simply dishonest.
Makes me go hmmmmm.

Terry, I wonder how people who vehemently questioned the discovery of the planet's actual shape validated their position? I'm not speaking of the ones that clung to the Bible, but the ones that might have offered peer review and counter arguments.

Scientists work inside a frame work of analytical skepticism to build conclusive results. We can describe that has being intellectual honest.
Creationists work inside a frame work of selective close minded bigotry, to support their beliefs and what their beliefs have offered them, which
can easily understood as intellectual dishonesty in holding their positions.
* Note - Perry is being saved from his apparent intellectual dishonesty

Who created bloodthirsty dinosaurs? Mosquitoes? Guinea worms? Intestinal parasites? the Icheneumon wasp?
These creatures show amazing "design". By who? A twisted, cruel mad scientist? Jehovah God?
Revelation says He 'created all things', so he is the maniac responsible. And such a "God" is worth worshipping?
