That's why I posted that scene. Hope is a foolhardy position many times, but that doesn't mean not to have it, it just means don't be married to it.

This time of the year particularly around the JW memorial can incite alot of uneasy emotion
with people trying to mentally fade away from mind this controlling religious cult.
This is not at all surprising considering that the fact that family members who are still involved with this organization will
try to coach people to attend, established JWS, fading out JWS or whoever.
This also is a time of year that alot of faders might develop a level of guilt as to whether they should attend or not.
I myself was surprised at how many strongly opposed to the JWS/WTS here on this forum were said to be attending themselves.
Haven't been to one myself for over 30 years, even after being a JWS for 20 years.
Its somewhat important to take note that the WTS calculation as to when to celebrate this event is even mis-calculated
by their own interpretation of what they've read in the bible. They are off usually by one day earlier then when it should take place,
but thats a mute point.
One thing that fully indoctrinated JWS will do is place a assertive amount of guilt on to people who have left the organization.
This is something that just has to be assumed by among other things a psychological standpoint.
The thing you want to achieve is making yourself confident and comfortable within your own psychological self and intellectual character.
With that intact and the emphatic compassion toward people who are still mentally trapped and exploited by this organization,
life eventually can be easier and fulfilling if you want it to be so.
Make yourself an example for the all the JWS you know to show that yes good things can and will happen if one steps out of the control
of the grasp of the WTS. If you fail in this endeavor not only will you most likely hurt yourself but you'll also prove to any JWS that yes leaving
the organization does bring ruin to oneself. They'll anticipate and even at times encourage it just to self justify themselves,
so it bears a cautionary warning to be aware of this.

thetrueone, their emotional blackmail will never fully work on me and I can be sure of that. It hurts, but it isn't working.

The real Truth of the matter is people who are JWS are being emotional blackmailed by the WTS., with an intensional agenda of sustainability.
Worthy of something to be constantly mindful of.
Living a life of wholesome fulfilled purpose, throws a monkey wrench right to the minds of JWS for thats not what they have been expressively told.
A little side story ......
When my mother passed away I attended her funeral which was at the Kingdom Hall that she and my father attend for many years.
Most of of the JWs who I've haven't seen in almost 30 years were taken back be how healthily and young I looked, of course I was well groomed
and wearing a expensive Armani suit, may have added to my appearance but they were expecting to see me worn out, sodded down by
alcoholism or drugs, generally a long haired pitiful low life. In other words the opposite of what they were expecting.

I hate the prejudice that Witnesses are conditioned to have for the outside world. It's almost like they are painted to be dirty in every respect; both body and mind.

When I started reading the OT, you know, like they tell us to, I read this:
Lev 21: 1-24 - 1 The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: ‘A priest must not make himself ceremonially unclean for any of his people who die, 2 except for a close relative, such as his mother or father, his son or daughter, his brother, 3 or an unmarried sister who is dependent on him since she has no husband—for her he may make himself unclean. 4 He must not make himself unclean for people related to him by marriage, and so defile himself.
5 “‘Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies. 6 They must be holy to their God and must not profane the name of their God. Because they present the food offerings to the LORD, the food of their God, they are to be holy.
7 “‘They must not marry women defiled by prostitution or divorced from their husbands, because priests are holy to their God. 8 Regard them as holy, because they offer up the food of your God. Consider them holy, because I the LORD am holy—I who make you holy.
9 “‘If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; she must be burned in the fire.
10 “‘The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt [ b ] or tear his clothes. 11 He must not enter a place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even for his father or mother, 12 nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the LORD.
13 “‘The woman he marries must be a virgin. 14 He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a woman defiled by prostitution, but only a virgin from his own people, 15 so that he will not defile his offspring among his people. I am the LORD, who makes him holy.’”
16 The LORD said to Moses, 17 “Say to Aaron: ‘For the generations to come none of your descendants who has a defect may come near to offer the food of his God. 18 No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed; 19 no man with a crippled foot or hand, 20 or who is a hunchback or a dwarf, or who has any eye defect, or who has festering or running sores or damaged testicles. 21 No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the LORD. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God. 22 He may eat the most holy food of his God, as well as the holy food; 23 yet because of his defect, he must not go near the curtain or approach the altar, and so desecrate my sanctuary. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.’”
24 So Moses told this to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites.
The God of the OT is what gave, and still gives, life to the WT leader's prejudice I am sure of it.

Good point Sab. and yes the higher up the Pyramid of power in this organization the greater that person is
in spiritual purity and strength in comparison to rest.
By their own definition mind you.
I guess you'll never see a GB member with a bad eye or damaged testicles

Oh they have that base well covered. Anything that comes from the OT that is inconvenient they effectively deem of the "old covenant."
Wiley rascals the lot of them.

Its called picking and choosing your doctrines selectively for yourself.
Seems every religious cult that starts up positions themselves this way.
5 “‘Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.
Wouldn't that have made a difference if the WTS. held to this particular law. All elders DOs, COs, GB members would have to have long
uncut hair and beards. And if one of the followers were to ask if they could grow their hair long including a beard to
any of the elders they would say ..... "yes you have are approval and blessings".
