LOL @ Sab
edited to say: I am sorry for using the word "disfellowship" when referring to the actions taken against Bill Bowen by the owner/moderators of this discussion forum.

I think this is the info you are looking for.
Thank you, Diamond :)
Awesome. Up to speed now. Thanks!
Having some terms of use and expectations of a minimum standard of behavior is not unique to this site by any means and we're not the first community to ban disruptive members - it happens on a million and one other sites every day.
I don't think having an account deleted can be compared to being disfellowshipping though and diminishes the harm it does. Anyone reading may think 'oh, those people ... they complained about being disfellowshipped but it only meant their account was deleted'. We know for exJWs who have family in the WTS it means a hell of a lot more than that.
We don't tell everyone not to talk to the person involved or not to join other sites, we don't follow them around the internet harrassing them or go making stories up about people to try and ruin their reputation. We don't disfellowship.
We also don't sit on our hands if some arse is slandering us and making crap up and welcome them on this site after they do it.
Yeah, hi Simon, nice to meet you, and thanks for having me as a guest on your forum.
I understand all that you say, and I now understand that Bowen exemplifies the point you are making. As I said in earlier posts, I really really really do understand the difference between what you do and what the body of elders do in a kingdom hall. Again, I really do understand, and I am so relieved that you do not ban friends and family members from associating with them once they have had their account deactivated. I really do get it.
Please, you mustn't think I was in any way implying that Bowen was unjustly treated by you or any of the moderators on this forum. I simply received word that Bowen was no longer in good standing with many others, which came as a surprise to me. I hadn't realized that Bowen was regarded with such distaste these days.
And sir, I can assure I know precisely what it means to be disfellowshipped from the organization of JW's. I am sorry you are sensative about this issue, and I cannot fault you when so many that have come and gone on this board, by my reading of the threads here, have accused you of acting like the org and/or elders, have been excessively critical of your decisions, etc. I would not want to be accused of being like those people either.
Now that I have been admonished by you, and what would seem to be two other mods, I will go back to what I normally do on this board . . .
No problem, it was more a statement to people who happen to be reading than a reply to you. I just wanted to explain my thinking a bit.
I don't think people necessarily hold others in distaste. Some people make a wrong call and have a falling out and then they move on. It's life. I don't think we're intended to be best-friends with everyone we come across.
Personally, I can respect what others try to do even though I may disagree with their methods or think they may be misguided in how they approach things. I'm sure others think the same about me.

And, I know some think the same about me.
