If it contributes anything to this topic, I will confess that I have been booted from this forum, too. The reasons do not matter, but I do respect that there are rules here. As I understand it, it took a lot of pull from moderators for me to be allowed back in as a poster. It also took an apology from me me, which I gave.

Does that bother me? Of course not. This is not my board. I didn't create it. I don't maintain it. I don't fund it. I am here as a guest.

I may encroach on the boundaries, but I respect the founder and his guidelines and rules.

For the others who think being on this board is a "right" and not a privilege, I say to them "you are foolish twits."

    Simon,

    You said:

"Thou shalt not use the word 'twits'"

"Twits" is considered the mildest and most gentlemanly insult to hurl at someone. It was actually of British origin and you know how much I love the Brits.

So I suppose that makes "Yo momma is a ho" out of the question, eh?

    Thought so.

That leaves me back to "dang", "gosh", "heck", "crud" and "shucks".

Shit. That is so fucked up.

    Ummm, back to the topic...

PC you are not out of line for asking this, and I think that everyone jumped on you a bit hard, so you obviously hit a nerve. Didn't Lilli have the same experience when she questioned Big Rick about our fake friend Johnny?

    Interesting...

Sounds like the little recognition Bill Bowen got, may have gone to his head. I don't personally know the guy but I've seen that happen many times. Its too bad because he helped a lot of people. We are probably better off remembering him for the good rather the bad.

Yes, there are rules on this forum, which I am sure Simon reminded Bill of before he was booted.

What I am wondering about is why Rick Fearon is allowed to continue to put spam adds up advertising the six screens every other week? It is obvious Rick has no intention of having any real participation in this forum and is only here for his own benefit, which is free advertising.

lovlylil, Rick has been posting about six screens for quite some time now. You never complained about it before and strongly stood up for your former Christian friend. Why do you want him banned now? Is it really because of advertising?

You said he set you up and hurt your feelings. I tend to believe you more then Rick, but I don't have solid proof about what really happen. IMO, I don't think Rick should be "banned" form JWN for how he treated you on his website or at his Christian church.

I can understand people not following rules having their membership revoked, but I recall on JWD that some other ex-witness sites were added to the profanity filter.

I remember I was sending a PM to someone about a post I had read and the forum software wouldn't allow it and kept removing it. I think it's fair to say that banning a user is rather commonplace on the internet and in fact JWN is much more tollerant than other communities I am a part of, but I don't agree that people can't end up "disfellowshipped" from here as well.

Blacklisting any posts on a website because of the actions of the owner rubs me the wrong way, but as Farkel mentioned, it's not my dime running the place. I really do think that there is a level of cognitive dissonance that prevents people from seeing how closely the ex-witness community mirrors that of a congregation, but that's a topic for another day. :)

Yes, I thought I was jumped on a bit quickly, too. However, I can only imagine how many times the actions of a mod and/or Simon have been attacked by posters who felt their actions or words were unfair. I can only imagine how many times they have been accused of being like the elders, etc.. That might make anyone a little sensative to such terms such as "disfellowshipped" when talking about a banned member.

Of course, when I used the term I was speaking strictly about the basic inference of the term; that of being kick out. I understand that actual df'ing from the org of JW's entails emotional blackmail and shunning and very hurtful. I didn't exactly need a lecture on what the difference was, but there it is. I get a little sensative when someone expresses bigotry or homophobia toward my LGBT brothers and sistahs. My brother died, ultimately, from the harm cause by the false biblical teaching that homosexuality is condemned by god. It pisses me off, actually. I get preachy and I get in peoples faces when they start quoting the Bible about how God hates fags. They don't realize the depth of misery that teaching causes innocent youths. So, I guess I can understand why Simon or the mods might get a little defensive when someone likens their actions to that of the WTBTS in dealing with members.

You said he set you up and hurt your feelings. I tend to believe you more then Rick, but I don't have solid proof about what really happen.

Rick offered to post the audio from the church conference call of which Lilly makes her claim of betrayal and humiliation. I believed her from the beginning. Lilly gave Rick permission to post the audio, and he still has not done so. In that audio lies the evidence I am pretty sure Fearon doesn't want anyone to hear.

What is the rule here specifically? Is there a 30-day, then a 12-month suspension, and then on the third strike you're banned? Or is it on a case-by-case basis?

You have a PM by the way, PC.

Mad Sweeney, generally if the line has been crossed AND the poster publicly challenges the moderator about it, they're gone (See posting guideline no. 11). No probationary period. Just gone. Posting guidelines are here for everyone to see under the reply entry.
