PC you are not out of line for asking this, and I think that everyone jumped on you a bit hard, so you obviously hit a nerve. Didn't Lilli have the same experience when she questioned Big Rick about our fake friend Johnny?

Not sure why it's so 'interesting" but I don't think anyone has jumped on anyone else. No nerves have been hit, we just explained things so people didn't get a wrong impression.

I don't think this is in any remote sense the same as happened on the conference call. "Interesting" that you try to imply that it is though ...

Some of Rick's posts have bordered on being spam and if he goes over the line they will be removed. I think the forum gives people a chance to discuss the whole thing though and then people can decide for themselves if they want to take part in phone-ins or whatever - I'm not going to start telling people what I think they should or shouldn't do.

I really do think that there is a level of cognitive dissonance that prevents people from seeing how closely the ex-witness community mirrors that of a congregation, but that's a topic for another day

I actually think it's the other way - I think some exJWs sometimes have a tendency to "see" the WTS everywhere, even where it isn't.

What is the rule here specifically? Is there a 30-day, then a 12-month suspension, and then on the third strike you're banned? Or is it on a case-by-case basis?

It's on a case-by-case basis. We try to be understanding - if someone who's otherwise been a good poster is having a bad day or going through some difficult issues then we make allowances. Likewise for language used - gratuitous swearing and being rude to people is different to the exact same words being used by an abuse survivor for instance. We try to use common sense and not rigid rules.

If someone is always causing trouble then evenrtually we get fed up with them. I make no appologies for that.

I had some (minor) contact with this person you mentioned in the past. All of which went very negative, quickly, and were not in anyway something I would care to see her. Some people are just not good communicators and should learn a more professional way of representing and organization. While my contact was minor, I read a lot that were not. In this person's defense though, I will say that when you surround yourself with a lot of negative energy and anger. You are not immune to picking up some of that and letting it form you. Plus, like elders, if you are not a schooled professional. You should not be a councilor.

I participate in a couple of other discussion forums that would never tolerate much of what is allowed here. Non JW/XJW posters get warned and/or banned all of the time, without all of the whining that goes on this forum when it happens here.

IMO the 'Your just like the elders or JW' card gets over played on this forum.

Maybe, in looking over my post, I was not clear. I would in no way support this person and have nothing to do with him after our conversation. In fact, I hope I never meet him or have any personal contact. I would rather speak to elders again, before I carried on even a conversation about the great smell of coffee with this person of the silent lambs. Ummm .... is that clear enough? LOL

In my opinion it isn't what this board was intended for.

I am kind of surprised it even went this far considering other poster/former poster bashings that have been locked or removed in the past...Personal Vandetta possibly? I don't know either Mr Bowen Or Simon so I can speak objectively..JMO.

Not everyone has been here since 2001, Snoozy. Lots of us are just in this thread for information, not to "bash Silent Lambs and Bill Bowen." In fact, this thread has been fairly even-handed and tame, IMO, with some good background info.

Yes, sweeny, I didn't start the thread to bash Bowen. I once spoke with him on the phone about a situation, and we exchanged some ideas and suggestions. We had a very nice conversation and never spoke again. I recently heard that he'd had his membership deactivated over some crazy stuff, and so, being the blunt person I am, I asked.

I have the bigger picture now.

Simon is obviously a communist and hates the plurality of America and her freedoms!

To others:

I know Bill Bowen probably better than those who have posted here in this thread. In fact, I knew him before he became the Bill Bowen of Silent Lambs and when he was still married to Sheila and making candles for a living, and as I recall before he was Dfd.

He called me less than a year ago and asked me to interview for a radio or television show in San Diego, but I no longer live in San Diego.

Without wanting to stir any pots, I'll just say that I hope I never get put in the position of having instant fame upon me, because it tends to mess some people up and lose their priorities and forget why they started doing what they did in the first place.

Like the guy from Six Screens et. al.
