Thanks for asking still thinking . . . still a bit bumpy with aftershocks from last night . . . couple of 4+'s. Thankfully we live in the west . . . so no 'faction to worry about. The house is full of cracks now however . . . and creaks a lot more when it shakes. The Geo-techs are finally admitting this could go on for a while. It's pretty tough news for those in the east. And then there's the Alpine . . . who's still sleeping in. Getting out is not as easy as I would like . . . but plans are taking shape.

    New page . . . new drum . . .

The place is still shakin' like a wet dog . . . after nearly 11 months of it!

Another month goes by. Just when we thought things were finally quietening down . . . a 4.2 and 4.0 on Sat. Now a 4.2 and 4.3 today (see drum above). GNS Science put out probability figures today . . . an 83% chance of 5 or more quakes at 5.0 mag or bigger in next 12 months . . . yay.

The chief of Fletchers said that they will start building new houses once they get insurance, but the insurers won't insure them until it settles down.

    Way too much optimism IMO.

Every time there's a 6.0 plus quake . . . everyone still assumes it's the last. One local Geologist on his blog about 10 months ago (after the Sept 2010 quake), said that damaging aftershock activity could well last 3-5 years based on historical data of similar ruptures (ie a fault plane that hasn't experienced movement for 25-30,000 years).

    They didn't listen then . . . and they're not listening now.

    1 year and 2 weeks since initial quake . . .
