Exactly how many different views of Jesus are there on the Board and doesn't that kind of tell Believers the obvious problem...

Copies would have continuity with the non-extant autographs. They did not just fall out of thin air. Most accept other books of antiquity with a fraction of the MSS evidence. We must also trust the sovereign providence of God to superintend the inspiration, transmission, canonicity of Scripture. For most, the bigger issue is interpreting and applying the good stuff that we do have.

possible: are you also agnostic about the existence of God?

    Word=Scripture=Bible.

We've done this already, but I have to repeat that the Word of God is Christ.

If you're going to give the bible more power than the Holy Spirit:

The Spirit does not speak contrary to the Word. If it is, it is a false spirit.

... then you better be sure that every word in that bible is inspired and infallible. I don't see it. Even passages within the bible contradict this: "Lying pen of the scribes... woe to you scribes... I punish men to the third generation verses a man does not die for his father's sin... etc, etc..." And what about the books that didn't make it in? Or even just the translation errors that might change the meaning of something to be in opposition to what the Holy Spirit might say to someone?

I like the bible. It's a witness to Christ. Not the whole thing probably. But the prophets and the writings in the NT. But having said that, the Spirit of Christ is more important than the written witness to him, especially once you have found Him. (Or been found by Him)

    Peace,

    Tammy

I know how much you love your kids.

Thanks! They are the number one priority in my life and I make sure I spend every possible moment I can with them. Just a few weeks ago I took them to the the Wells FArgo golf championship in Charlotte, they were awed by the pro golfers. Despite the the fact that the JW's will protest, I have setup college funds for them, am making sure they know a life besides the JWs.

No matter what they decides to do with their life, I want them to know I will love and support them. One of them wants to be a pro golfer (but he's 8, so i figure that will change about 20 times) and the other wants to be a vulcanologist (a geologist specializing in volcanoes). I am all for it.

Speculation since the copies from the same time frame don't have continuity from region to region.

They did not just fall out of thin air.

Correct, they were consciously changed to support specific brands of christianity at the time, of which there were dozens.

We must also trust the sovereign providence of God to superintend the inspiration, transmission, canonicity of Scripture.

Who is "we"? And so far he seems to suck. Whoever this "we" is that you mention must be suckers to trust someone so monumentally bad at something he is supposed to be good at.

Define what you mean by agnostic, since there seem to be so many different ideas on it.

Despite our differences in opinion, you are my favorite types of Christian. And one of my favorite people on this forum :)

One of mine wants to be a rock star (heavy metal rock star), but last year he wanted to be a dog rehabilitationist. I look forward to next year's ambition ;)

The youngest changes his mind a lot - army, video game designer, lego designer - but mostly he's just too busy living to worry about the future.

Both of them toy with the idea of being writers every now and then.
