Just want to say I highly recommend the video InterestedOne has posted above. Lawrence Kraus is very entertaining, it would be an hour well spent.

PP: Why are these two statements exclusive? Can't someone believe God created the earth and actively search and study how it was done?

Believing while searching isn't intellectually honest.

NOTHING is not nothing. Not NO - THING. Nothing is something.

This type of debate is as futile as asking if an allmighty powerful GOD can make an immovable object he is incapable of budging.

    Which God is another question.

There has always been something, even if it is nothing.

Cosmological sieves of gravity magnetism, electricity, weak and strong forces, produce APPARENT order. mere Emergent Behavior (QV)

The universe as far as we can tell is unique. Life as far as we know it is unique.

Since we cannot calculate the probability of a unique event, we don't need to hypothesise another unique event (GOD - which one tho?) to explain it, as this goes against Occam's Razor.

Here's what you can't get your head around (in very condensed form) ...

Time and gravity are linked. Without gravity there is no time. Therefore it's impossible for a 'before' the universe to exist.

Hard to comprehend, just like infinity.

    This explains it well:

Prophecor, awesome pictures, I'm into nature and it's unbelievable beauty, especially lightening. I have family friends who hide when there's electrical storms, but I adore it. I pity people who can't see the beauty in creation. They can't see what their missing out on. Let them sulk and be miserable.

Glad i'm listening to kruas. He said what i was going to, but didn't cuz my knowledge of the subject is so limited. He said that the total energy of the universe is zero, ZERO. That means that it could have started from nothing, loosely speaking. If you don't understand how this can be possible, you should listen to the guy.

Yep, for people who don't believe in creation sunsets look absolutely disgusting. Such miserable people.
