Aug.1 WT: God is not omnipresent, independent of physical universe, uses probes

The probes analogy is pretty piss poor, and yet, that was probably the best they could come up with. If the spirit (non-personage) of God is roaming around the universe, magically sensing and seeing all that is (it's tough to use non-personage words that can apply to a force), I don't see how that is any different than God himself doing it, since the spirit of God IS God. The spirit "see's"; God immediately "see's."

And, if God is outside our time/space dimension, He's really just looking down at us as we would a fishbowl, seeing everything that was, is and will be. He's everywhere and nowhere, at the same time.

Well he wrote the ten commandments with his finger . . . must be one hell of a digit . . . or maybe that's evidence of a "probe" at work

So they have given up the notion that God lives in and around the Pleides constellation?

I believe they did, back in the early Russell/Rutherford days.

It is also, to my understanding, something of an old-time Christian fundamentalist belief.

Sounds like the Borg view is that Jehovah lives COMPLETELY OUTSIDE our universe and the ONLY way he can interact within it is via holy spirit probes. That raises the question, why can angels interact BOTH within AND outside our universe in "the spiritual heavens" when God himself CANNOT?

@MS : because God created everything, including the angels, although that makes it interesting how the angels interact with God if he's outside of the universe. Although the WTS says He has a specific dwelling place, they're careful to not say that he CANNOT be everywhere at once, as that would be saying God has limitations, and that would be bad, but instead simply that He chooses not be everywhere at once, or at least that's implied.

David first asked: "Where can I go from your spirit"? By means of his holy spirit, God can see anything and exert his power anywhere, without literally going there or dwelling there.

Um, if Jehovah is a spirit, how exactly does he have a spirit that helps Him do amazing things like seeing through lead and looking at rocks on Mars.....

    There's a brain twister!!
