LOL AK. By today's standards, Reagan and Goldwater are liberal. Don't feel bad. Just don't let them move the compass on you and insist that you move with it. Stay where you are and if that puts you farther to the left it's because they moved the pole--not because you moved. But then, maybe you are becoming more liberal! In that case, can I help you along?

There are many times when Beck's rants sound more religious than political. More common, he mixes his political and religious ideology to make politics a matter of faith. He has received the nickname Televangelist by some liberal commentators. He often speaks of the end of the world in Revelation terms, only he is willing to store gold and emergency packs to survive. There was one survival pack that he actually sponsered and was sold in connection with his name. He doesn't seem to distinguish between actual religions, he simply concentrates on conservative religious beliefs. He made the statement that Capitalism was God's way of teaching people to do right. On the other side, socialism is anti-god. It's a weird mixture, but it seems to work for him and his audience. I wonder why his conservative christian audience isn't more offended by the idea that Beck thinks he will become a god over his own planet when he dies. Unless I don't fully understand the Mormon belief, I believe that is what he thinks. Aren't they the ones that say as Man is, God was and as God is, Man will be. Something like that. Not an expert though.

I think the religious bent outweighs the good stuff. I liked him a few years ago before he was ever on TV because he was much more of a libertarian-style guy - or presented himself that way. Now, he's more of a right-wing-nut like Hannity or Rush.

I've only been following his show for a few weeks but so far so good.

Perhaps its because thinking about peoples views in conventional "left-right" terms is too simplistic. The Political Compass website has an online test that measures your political views in terms of social and economic opinions.
