A Sneaky Way To Mess With Watchtower Statistics

What are the policies for those who record the time cards? Are the time cards destroyed after they are recorded? Are there any easy ways to mess with the figures without getting caught? How about those who order the magazines? If some publishers take a lot to throw away, will they just order more? I think that could really add up over time.

I don't think building them up is as important as the mass exodus at a strategic time. Think about a family of four leaving a congregation of 80. That's a 5% decrease in one fell swoop. If the guy is an elder and the wife a pioneer, that REALLY hurts.

This sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME, but it rarely happens all at the SAME TIME.

I feel like the key is to coordinate faders who intend to leave and get them to hang on until a particular date, say the 2014 Memorial, and just quit en masse then.

I think that is a good idea. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of media coverage about the 100th anniversary of 1914. If people left in groups it could be very newsworthy.

This idea will not work. When a person turns in a report the hours and mags posted on their publisher record card and on a master sheet that tabulates the report. Any unusual deviations from normal activity would be spotted and questioned at the local level and immediately called into question.

@DT - When a person does not report time for month they are not counted as active publisher that month and total publisher reporting count goes down by one. If they hand in a late report the next month along with the current report for that month the publisher count goes up by two. Anyone turning two reports for the same month would be flagged. Pumping up the numbers would be really hard.

The peak publisher number in August is really a bogus number because it reflects all of the current months reports plus any months that were missed. Each report is counted as a publisher. There is no other way for them to do it. The official publisher count for a congregation is taken twice a year when the CO visits. Since every congregation has the CO visit at diffrent times it is not possible for these reports, which are the most accurate because they count publisher record cards, not field service reports to produce the peak number.

The real number is the average number of publishers because it eliminates the lows from months when the reporting is poor and the highs from months when the elder push to get missing reports and the count is high.

    A+ for creativiy though!

Thank you. That is kind of what I was thinking for August 2013 especially. Handing in a late report won't effect the average, but it does artificially inflate the world wide peak pubs for the year. The Witnesses seem to highlight that number even though they know it's inaccurate. If some people were going to leave or become inactive in 2014, it would be a way to make it look like a bigger exodus than it really is.

I like the idea, but I am certain there are not enough here to carry out this sort of service sabotage.

I think you have nothing to worry about. I think the numbers will fall PRECIPITOUSLY before, during and after 2014.

@DT - I agree with BOC. Most JWs are not hard core loyalists. Most go along with crowd even thought they may not understand everything. They really face two large issues.

    1. The pool of men to from which they choose elders is quite small. It is decreasing all the time.

    2. Blind obedience and not Bible knowledge are the priority with these men. Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Franz whether you liked them or not were not afraid to rock the boat. Rocking the boat is strongly discouraged. Maitaining the status quo is paramount. This is creating a pool of elders who do cannot lead and that folks will eventually lose confidence in.

The trend of many to lead normal lives AND APPEAR to be blind followers will continue to accelerate. It used to be that 120 hours a month was "whole-soulded service." Now they are happy if they can get folks to do 30 hours once per year. The lack of strong leadership and lack of numbers for leadership will eventually be the undoing of the organization.

The only way to mess with it (at least on a local level) is if you're still in to report 0 placements but take out a large stack of books and magazines every meeting. With a bit of scheduling (depending on the literature servant rotation) you can take out 100's of magazines, deposit them in the recycling and they'll have to keep re-ordering and increasing. The month before the CO comes just stop taking out literature all together - the elders are going to have it because they have massive overflow and they won't be able to explain where they all went.

It's winter, you'll need bricks to start your fire ;-) Before I left I took out whole boxes into the recycling, it's even easier to do if you have access to the KH (keys).

As of right now, im still an MS, but have made the determination to stop reporting. This last month report i didnt turn in, when my service group OS emailed, i said, "oh nothing to report this month", then added, "tell secretary to lie for me".

Wont be long they will be deleting me.........how sad for me i guess.....or not

Ya know... just thinking aloud here... at the local level, there are records kept of hours and magazines placed, etc. This all gets sent to the big boys in Brooklyn (or wherever they call home these days).

How they tabulate the numbers there... or cook the numbers... may be different than you think. They may already be pumping up the numbers to make things look good - no matter how many hours or placements are made (or not made) at the local level(s).

So... all of your planning would be for nought.

    Regards,

    Jim TX
