Band - yes, I'm familiar with the general goings on and have been following the thread posted by the Andersons. My questions were just limited to that which I asked. You answered when you said, "WT entity mailed a letter to all elders in Australia telling them to comply with the law". If that was in the thread already I must have missed it. Thanks!

I am familiar with the legal protections that corporations offer for its executives and board members, however--and as you might be aware--there is a concept known as "piercing the corporate veil". But I haven't seen it addressed here.

For those that don't know, this is:

An action [which] ... normally arises in civil litigation when ... the plaintiff alleges that the corporation is actually a sham - that is, the corporation is not really a distinct individual, but is merely an extension or "alter ego" of its shareholders, being used to advance their private interests or to perpetrate a fraud. - Piercing the Corporate Veil, by Aaron Larson, Law Offices of Aaron Larson

It is a way to hold responsible the appropriate individuals in the case of illegal and/or criminal activity. This no doubt works differently in different court systems/jurisdictions, but. I'd imagine/hope the principles apply

When we get an answer, if it actually is an naswer that defines who the FDS are, which I am afraid it will not be, it will be an obfuscation of some sort, trying to keep the American end of things, especially the GB ,out of this, but if we did get an answer, will someone please alert Moshe ?

He has tried all sorts of things, including phoning H.Q, and nobody will say they are a member of the FDS, or even who the FDS are.

I wish the Court luck in trying to identify this mysterious entitiy, but I won't hold my breath whilst waiting.

patience everyone. Barbara knows her stuff and it's been kept close for a reason. Even if it was to announce it this weekend. I'm not expecting anything earth shattering but for Barbara to make mention of it, the answer should be interesting to say the least.

Unfortunately to the avg JW, it's just nasty old satan causing true worship some grief. It's a sign that the end is soon, again.

Thanks N.Drew. I think I am doing it right.

Yeah, it is hard to identify a mythical group of people, but I am hoping the court can shed some "new light" on the matter.

What exactly are they being charged with? Excuse my ignorance.

If the summary was correct, the judge(s) heard the identity of the FDS in open court. It should be a public record.

Some more interesting reading on Steven Unthank and the trial here:

    http://jwnews.net/

“The Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Watch Tower Society outright refused to follow their very own procedures. They now have only have themselves to blame. You reap what you sow.

“These men are no longer free from accusation and neither do they have a fine testimony even from people on the outside of the congregation. They are no longer blameless.

It will be interesting if the WT corporate entity in Australia assumes any liability or whether it claims it has no actual power over the many JW individual elders. If you were an elder, it would be in your financial interest for the WT Australia to be found liable. Someone who is British raises the concept of hierarchical vs. congregatial churches. The Roman Catholic Church is the best example of a hierarchical church. I suppose the Quakers are a decent example of a congregational church. This case would be fascinating even if there no Witness involvement. I am curious but not curious enough to order a transcript. Some Australia media should have reported this case.

As I understand the situation, the FDS is the 144,000 Anointed Ones.

The GB is the visible representative of the FDS, and it is the GB's responsibility to govern and teach the FDS.

That is the way I understood the GB interprets Matt 24:45. I cover this in:

    http://www.jwstudies.com/FDS_and_its_GB.pdf

The judge might not be aware that the WTS has a religious body within its membership who take a religious vow of service and poverty. This has been used by the WTS in legal presentations in other jurisdictions (therefore legal precedence applies), which then has the potential to tarnish them with the brush that taints other religious bodies. What did the GB have to hide? Did it not want it to be known they are paying millions in compensation to victims of sexual abuse?

We all have ideas i know of who or what the FDS is/are...

but i am, and i am sure we all are, keen to hear what Barbara hinted at...

The real identity unmasked in a court.....this is i am sure very different to what the WT tells the rank and file.
