Cofty, I hadn't seen this before.

My thoughts are with you. I cannot say how much I like your posts, your knowledge, and your pragmatism! You're my hero.

    Sending positive vibes,

    Alec

    Thank you.

It turned out the spot on my lung was a secondary - shit!

Now to do chemo or not to do chemo that is the question. My consultant says there is no clear consensus so I will get an appointment to talk to my new onco in January - my previous onco retired. Last time the chemo caused spasms of my otherwise very healthy aorta. So, cancer or heart attack?

I have no symptoms and am probably fitter than 90% of 50 year old men. The day after I had part of my lung removed I was walking laps of the hospital stairwell.

Meanwhile there is lots that needs doing. No time for being ill.

I lost a neighbour to colon cancer. It was the final chemo drug that really did him in. Up to that point he had remained fairly active. He had a hate-on for that particular drug.

Your life, your choice how you want to play this out.

    Cofty,

With my facial pain, I was at the no consensus juncture so often. It was an orphan disease that did not affect many people so money and research was not forthcoming. Besides the agonizing pain, and about 30 major surgeries to scrape my jaw bone of necrotic bone, I often just asked warring specialties to have a direct duel or boxing match with each other and leave me out of the loop. Once a victor was declared, they could call me and tell me the results. My legal training came in handy. I wish I had decided to go into the foreign service so I would have proper diplomatic training.

As I write this, my kidney function tests are low. One specialty insisted I take certain medicine. Another insisted I would destroy my kidneys. This is not science but art.

You appear to have more science training than I do. Maybe that helps. What is the solution? Get drunk and flip a coin? Visit the specialist's office and decide which one's interior decorating aesthetic is closer to yours?

I've been suprised at how often you have been fully engaged here. I am certain that even if the Theists wish you the best.

Does that mean there are other secondaries Cofty? Of haven't they found any others? I wish you strength and health Bill
