  Psac -- Thanks for all the replies (and cofty too).. I think I finally understand your position now. You don't rely on the Bible in any way, you believe the Holy Spirit will guide you to what is true and what isn't, even within a book of the Bible. Is that right? And would you have believed in the same God without having read the Gospels?

  Of course I rely on the bible and view it as having authority, I said so above:

  There is AN authority in the bible but is is not THE authority, we sometimes forget that what POINTS to something is NOT that thing.

  Perhaps I am in a different "boat" then most because I came to God NOT through the bible but via other means.

  I hold the bible very dear, but I view it as God's word through Man's word.

  God speaks through His Living Word, long before words were even words, His WORD "spoke" to Us.

  And will continue to "speak", all we have to do is listen.

  Whenever I click on the last post when it's The Quiet One's post, my computer won't go there.

  Nancy, mine was doing that for a little while too. Plus, sometimes when I check after The Quiet One's threads, I just get a computer screen of code. I don't know why. It tends to sort itself out.

  i used to have the same thing happen to me N.Drew and my computer is fine now.

  rearding the discussion going on - I understand it as that christians can be informed by the Bible but that the Bible is not viewed as the final authority.
