This was one example of a failed prophecy by Jesus.

It's a failed prophesy by the interpreters of that scripture.

    How did Jesus fail?

Mr. Cofty, when you post you say way more words than me. I'm jealous that you know "fluff" but I only know "wibble".

N.drew: None of us are anything but interpreters, IMHO. Further, how could Jesus possibly fail, from your perspective? I do not see how he could. He is never wrong, correct?

He was wrong to hope for us!

The way I understand that scripture is he said "this" generation. Meaning This person, Jesus, and them who are with this person Jesus. Jesus talks to his friends first. He calls them "this". You think I'm kidding?

Somebody told you leavingwt, that the scripture refers to a period of time. Why do you believe it? How can it refer to world time when he also said "heaven and earth will pass away..."?

N.drew: The only thing that any of us can do is either (a) trust our own judgement or (b) take someone else's word for it. I'm going with (a), due to my poor experience with (b). I'm obligated to reject things that do not make any sense to me. Otherwise, who could I possibly blame for the outcome?

This is very true. I'm surprised Jesus is called a false prophet based on someone's false interpretation, i.e., the JWs. It's like saying Christianity is a horrible religion because some really bad people call themselves Christians. It's not logical. Beside that, we all know that "this generation" must be that generation present to see those end times prophecies fulfilled, those prophecies at the very end. No other interpretation fits.

    How did Jesus fail?

Jesus, the God-Man, the second person of the Holy Trinity, never failed, not once.

Yes, I agree. I like you just the way you are BUT please do not say (because you do not know) that Jesus is a false prophet. It isn't nice. And then what if you discover that he absolutely is NOT false, but someone believed YOU and followed what you said to his/her destruction?
