^ An interesting argument. But check out this verse:
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
How long is an age?

I just watched the movie caligula (which holds up well considering it was made in 79.) As I was watching I thought 'I can see how some looking on the decadance of that time would dream up the savior scenario that we have in the new testament.'
To all who hold that jesus is coming you really should investigate the times and mindset of those who were alive back than.

paintedtoenail, read the link on my previous post on this thread.
Well, all I can say is that I'm a witness, raised in the truth and one of the anointed. Having said that, INTERPRETATION makes a big difference in whether prophecy is fulfilled or not.
For instance, when the gospels speak of "the end" it is referencing the "end of the system of things." What "system of things" or "order of things"? This is a reference to the socio-political state the Jews were in at the time of Jesus. That focus, as we know from Luke 22 was the "END of the gentile times." That is, the "system of things" at that time the Jews wanted to end was gentile dominance and the promised restoration of the Jews to their homeland. Most others think of "the end of the [current] system of things" as the end of the world that occurs at Armageddon.
Now, if you dig a little deeper, we get some chronology applications for "the end" at Daniel 12. That is, the end of the appointed times of the nations is connected to the end of 1290 days. Just before this is a "great tribluation", an event that happens to Daniel's people (Dan 12:1) specifically. But after this great tribulation that occurs to Daniel's people, God restores the Jews to their homeland and then the messiah arrives after that. When we superimpose that on Matthew 24 we find continuity where this great tribulation prophesied by Daniel is followed by spiritual darkness and then the "sign of the son of man appears in heaven."
In other words, the context of the "great tribulation" and the end of 1290 days occurs prior to the 2nd coming! Further, the second coming chronology is linked to the 1335 days; that is, 45 years after the end of the 1290 days and the "end of the gentile times."
So to jump to the point, we ask just when did the "gentile times" end, that is, when did the Jews come out of exile and have an official homeland again? And did this occur following some "great tribulation" against the Jews?
Answer, the end of the gentile times occurred on November 30, 1947 when the Partition Agreement granted the Jews their homeland back again. This is when the official "end" occurs. The "great tribulation" preceding this was, of course, WII and the Holocaust. To this we add another criteria. That is, the "good news" would be preached worldwide "and then the end will come." Well after WWII ended, then president of the WTS, NH Knorr, went on a wordwide speaking campaign. This confirms the "good news" indeed by 1947 had been preached worldwide throughout Christendom and was literally preached that year in this worldwide speaking campaign. After that, indeed, the "end" did occur; that is, the end of the gentile times, not Armageddon.
So what are we saying? We're saying that if you don't interpret the Scriptures correctly, and you think the "great tribulation" is Armageddon like the WTS and you ignore Matthew 24:29 which clearly shows the second coming occurs "AFTER the tribulation of those days...", then you will be among those that think there is no fulfillment and everything has been happening as it always has. But if you've been granted the correct interpretation, as I have, then you see how wonderfully all these things are being fulfilled. Even the second coming 45 years after 1947 did occur as prophesied. I'm an eyewitness to the second coming on December 25/26, 1992. But that is because I'm among the elect, the "eagles" that experience these things.
But not to worry. Remember, a divinely imposed spiritual darkness was to set in after the Holocaust/great tribulation (i.e. darkness of the sun, moon and sky; all 10 virgins nod and their lamps grow dim just before the messiah arrives, etc.). So lack of critical understanding is expected, with only the "eagles" (the chosen elect) knowing specifically how to interpret this.
So what I'm saying is, if you're looking for the wrong thing at the wrong time, you will think the Bible's prophecies have not come true. But if you have the right interpretation, then you see precise Biblical fulfillment.
Or if you insist on being honest and ignoring the facts, then you will also not see fulfillment. Even those here that have been hoodwinked into thinking the revised Babylonian records are more accurate than scripture and think Jerusalem fell in 587 rather than 607 BCE, seldom try to claim that the messiah arrived in 1934 rather than 1914. If 587 BCE was the true date Jeruslaem fell, then Christ should have arrived 2520 years later in 1934 then, right? I mean, those who think 587 BCE is the correct date for the fall of Jerusalem often want to dump the chronology of the "7 times" as well since nothing eventful seems to have happened in 1934 compared to 1914. But if you follow strict Bible chronology, which we must now, thanks to the confirmation of the VAT4956 that year 37 of Neb-II originally occurred in 511 BCE, then you can use that text to date year 19 to 529 BCE, totally independent of the Bible. When we apply the "7 times" then the 2nd coming occurs in 1992-1993, the same year you get when you add 45 years to 1947.
So, again, the point is this. YOU see no fulfillment based on your incorrect interpretation, but I have confirmed fulfillment based on my correct interpretation. So your thought that the "great tribulation" or the second coming hasn't happened yet, is your problem, but not mine or of the other "elect." Remember, Christ has to fulfill arriving as a "thief in the night", which means he will have come and gone before you wake up and discover he has robbed you! That's exactly what has happened. Christ arrived quietly, like a thief in the night, in 1992 and now you're just waking up to find out.
So, in fact, scoffers scoff about all this, partly because they are in darkness, which was divinely imposed. Only the "elect" the "eagles" have the clear understanding in the beginning. The majority of mankind will thus experience the second coming long after it has occurred.
In terms of Armageddon, even the Bible says it will seem "delayed" but that "it will not be late!" (Hab 2:3). But also, Armageddon is not dated, that event is left entirely under the "jurisdiction" of Jehovah.
Bottom line, if you're looking for the wrong thing at the wrong time, you'll have reason to scoff when something doesn't happen. But if you have the true and correct understanding, then everything has been happening just as the Bible outlines.
The "great tribulation" was the Holocaust. The "end" occurred in 1947. The second coming occurred "like a thief in the night" on December 25, 1992. That how we of the "elect" interpret this and we have witnessed fulfillment directly.
